If Marner stays with the leafs, does Tkachuk's numbers drop off from last year?

London will still be a power house with Tkachuk, Roslovic (WPG), Jones (ANA), Juolevi (VAN), etc. I wouldn't expect a big dip.

If the flames want him to work on skating and bulk up than I have no issue with his numbers sliding down a bit to accommodate for those things elevating ...although if he gets bigger and faster than his points might go up as well ...

Working on everything you mentioned above is ideal. It just may come at the expense of his point totals. The Marner/Dvorak/Tkachuk line wasnt even fair last season. Looked like they were toying with the opposition.

Exciting times in Calgary getting Elliott was a great move and a combination of vets with youth barring major injuries imo this is a playoff roster and could go deep what do you guys see as needs for your flames?

Nice post Todd! Do you think the Devils would show any interest in Wideman at half price. Their blue line looks like it needs a bit of experience & & a power play point guy?

Yeah I think Tkachuk will make the team. But will need sheltered minutes. Maybe TB starts on the 1st line.

I think he might get sheltered minutes but seeing as he isn't a center its not as important to shelter him like monny or Bennett ...I like the idea of putting him with the big boys and letting him see where he had to get to if he wants to be a top line guy

If we shelter Tkachuk what would our lines look like next year as of right now?

Johnny Money (Brouwer?)
Tkachuk Bennett Frolik
Ferland Backlund Prybl/Shink/Poirier
Bouma Stajan Vey/Chiasson

Bennett would have be getting extra minutes on the PP and would probably have to be shuffled into lines, he should be getting close to 20 minutes next year). But who do we put on a line with him. We don't really want Tkachuk on Backlunds line if they are going to be used as our defensive shut down line, and it'd be a shame to break up Frolik and Backlund (but it might have to be done to give Bennett's line some balance).

Basically it could be a fight between Vey/Chiasson and maybe Prybl to play on that second line. That's a weak top 6, even if we shelter Bennett's line...

Hopefully someone comes flying out of camp because that top 6 needs help

Prybil had surgery & won't be ready for start of the season & will probably start & get game up to speed in Stockton. Chiasson isn't a 4th line kind of player, he'll be on the 3rd or 2nd line depending on training camp & injuries.

Agreed. No way Chia plays on the 4th line. And I think Tkachuk plays on the right side.

So chia is definitely a 3rd liner with a career high of 13 g and bouma is a 4th liner with 16 ?

Wonder if BT would be willing to give Hudler an offer if the coaching staff isn't satisfied with our top 6 by the end of camp..

Also possible we see Backlund tried out on the RW of the 1st line.

If BT got Chia to play the 4th line he made a mistake. Chia needed a change of scenery. Maybe something like Turris could happen. And to through Bouma out there is hilarious. He's A Kris Russell that's plays forward.

Backs is a center ...and a good one at that ...if anyone is getting moved to the wing its Bennett ...he hasn't gotten a fair shot at center but he also hasn't proved to me he is better at the position than backs

No way IMO. He's too good as a shut down center. Putting him on the right side would be like a fish out of water.

Just saying if people think chia is anything more than a 4th liner I find it laughable ...he is closer to lance bouma than Kyle Turris
