Queens could be a very interesting option for the Isles. We've hard it before so way too early to look at it as a real option yet.

I laughed about the part where they said, "can't make as much money as a bigger building." As much as $50M guaranteed profit, plus another whatever tens of millions guaranteed by the TV contract? What team with a bigger building gets that much revenue and profit? Toronto? Our neighbors in Manhattan? It's just silly.

Is it about making money or building a better franchise with happy players and fans though?

Personally I don't think Queens is a good idea, but some from LI might think it is.
Best thing they can do is pump some money BACK to Barclays to try to get them to make the changes needed to expand the arena and thus remove the bad sight lines. Also figure out how to get a practice facility closer by to appease the players who aren't fond of the commute. Barclays is a very convenient location, and if they plant roots properly can grow the fanbase in Brooklyn and make up for any lost fans from LI if they put a quality team on the ice and clean up the organizational image to attract quality free agents in the future.

Just my 2c.

Come on this is total hog wash. BC is state of the art five minutes from downtown Manhattan. The players love the commute and the fans equally embrace it.
There are only a few posters on here plus some random media personnel who make shat up like Brooks and Kypreos. They are so stupid!
Dan I can't believe you even wasted time writing about this

The complaints about the commute were not made up.. Over blown yes but not made up. This story has already been confirmed by other outlets so it merits being mentioned in the middle of July

What can they really do at the Barclays though? It's not like they can rip out the seats and infrastructure of one entire end of the arena and make it suitable for hockey. That would be an absurdly expensive proposition and would mean tens of millions in lost event-revenue while they were closed. This is all assuming that they could even complete the construction in the time between hockey and basketball seasons.

It's just not feasible to retrofit anything into the Barclay's. Really nice arena, but it's never going to be a completely "normal" hockey arena.

Hey if the Garden can do it..... Barclays can as well.
Basketball and Hockey season run at the same time anyway.
They can do it during playoff season since the Nets and Islanders wont be using it then. lol

I said there was no reason to not build an arena capable of fitting everything if you are building it from scratch. Why the didn't do that I still nor will never understand
