Schwartz got 5 years @ 5.35, Killorn 7 years @ 4.45 and Johansson 3 years @ 4.58. Someone remember what those guys were asking?

Lowball and a half by the Rag$

The Schwartz deal is great leverage for us. Schwartz is a significantly better and more complete player.

All three were slated for hearing today. Schwartz and Killorn likely never ended up submitting figures because they settled more than a few days before the scheduled hearing. I have to check on Johansson.

Thats my point. You don't think Schwartz is 800k better than Kreider? Kreider at 4.5 is where he should top out.

I think that Kreider will get somewhere in between Palmeri and Schwartz' contracts, probably closer to Palmeri.

Schwartz is better no doubt. But you can list 5 players making more than that that are worse than Kreider too.

The Rangers have their comparable contracts and Kreider will list his

"In two years if he stays exactly the same I'm guessing they could still lock him up for 5-5.25. so really the only risk is if he does score 30 in the next 2 years. By then Nash will be gone, Girardi will be bought out, Cap will probably go up, so it will be easier to overpay a bit. "

If the Rangers decided to give him the 2 years in the arbitration, it would be an asinine move. lock him up baybay!

(WineryDog answered it, Jan)

Guessing Kreids get a frontloaded deal and possibly a NTC for the first 2-3 years if they're going for a 4-6 years deal...

or I just don't wanna do this all over again next summer where he will be asking for 6 mil per on a long term deal before he becomes a ufa...

but yes there is no point in talking further about this (I just needed to get in the last word)

Go all in: max 8 years at $4.5M so he can walk away at 33 and someone else can overpay for a declining vet.

Considering what gets $4.5-$5M these days that would give the Rangers 3 bargain deals with McD, Zucc, and CK20.

New contract this year?
- mdw7413

Reilly Smith, Vincent Trocheck, Filip Forsberg, Nathan MacKinnon, Mark Schiefele, and Mathieu Perreault all come to mind

I think Kreider is better than Smith and Perreault and has a longer track record than Trocheck. Forsberg, MacKinnon and Schiefele are all obviously better than Kreider but they're all making over $6M per on their extensions. So Kreider can say "if Schiefle is making 6.25M per year, I should be at least 5.
