I agree with OB, Hextall's approach is exactly the one I want them to take. It's basically the same approach Detroit has used and they have arguably been the most successful NHL franchise over the last 25 years.
There is no need to rush any prospect into NHL before they are ready.
I agree with Hextall's idea. He's been smart about developing guys and managed to keep the team competitive-for the most part-despite being in an obvious retooling process.
The interesting thing is, if the prospects do develop as we all hope, the Flyers could easily be a dominant team for 10-15 years. We should see the defensemen filter in and become NHL regulars over the next couple seasons. As that happens the forwards may be shuffled out as the young forwards arrive, too.

Well, as I said earlier, they seem to be following the Detroit model and its worked pretty well for them.
Thank you as always Bill. I cant count on the weather man being right, I cant count on my Employees showing up to work, I cant count on dinner being on time but I always know I'll get my daily Flyers fix from you. Always appreciate by myself and all your readers

No problems with Hextall's approach. Long term it's probably better. - ob18
Hextall' s approach is the proper way....but in the end the player has just as much the say. If Provorov, Sanheim or Morin come into camp and show they belong ..they stay.....if not they don't. Any scout will tell you that every player develops at different ages and different degree's. There's no right way but there is a wrong way if the player is rushed.

When you put it like that....hopefully a few of these kids hit. - landros 2
I think they will all be NHL players, the question is: will they be solid or stars?
I'd really surprised if, out of Provorov, Sanheim, Morin, Konecny, Rubtsov, Lindblom, Aube-Kubel, Laberge, Allison, Myers and Haag, at least 3 or 4 don't become stars/impact players.
Also, I think it's a fair bet that out of Stolarz, Lyon, Hart, Sandstrom and Tomek, that at least one becomes a quality NHL starting goalie.
