Thanks for keeping up the updates in the dog days of summer. Carol.

I forgot how awesome this was. The article also reminded me that Leafs and Oilers fans were throwing jerseys on the ice as part of their "rebuild". What a wonderful way to build a team. Character counts.

Good post Carol;

JB "Teams know what we’re looking for and we’ll see how it goes."So he's asked about specific players. The Kane rumors aren't going away? Top 6 check, grit check, scoring check, problem check.

Surrender another high draft pick? He'll be run out of town.

Yeah, I saw the link to that Kane story at the end of the last blog. He certainly does seem to fit the description that's being floated. And it makes sense that Buffalo would be even more willing to deal Kane if they're able to sign Jimmy Vesey, who also plays LW.

Which also means that it makes sense that JB is comfortable, for now, to wait till Vesey's signing window opens on August 15 to see what happens....

Again on Kane; Buffalo gave up Tyler Myers, Drew Stafford, two prospects and a first-round pick. Before the trouble started. Tim Murray is going to need to recoup some of that so you know the price is high if this is one of JB's targets.

Yep, JB is in wait mode, kind of the consensus here the last few days.

Price may be high to start, but when teams laugh at it, the price lowers. Last thing Murray wants is a player of his caliber walking in 2 years and having nothing to show for his trade. I actually think he will pull a Hamhuis at 26 when he is a UFA.

Pull a Hamhuis as in come home on a discount? I cant see it, he's either looking for low-key anonymity (Florida, Dallas) or big city (New York, LA). Matter of fact, I would say he takes a "hometown discount" to go to Vegas

Pull a Hamhuis as in, want to be resigned and be willing to take a discount to stay but the mgmt group isn't interested?

I would suggest dealing for Lupul... you could give up absolutely nothing for him, he will produce when in the line up and can be put LTIR virtually at will... the pressure will be off Sven for however many games Lupul can play, guessing a reasonable over/under would be about 20

The best thing for all parties is to move on if that's the plan. Kane needs to rebuild his reputation now before hitting free agency. VAN makes sense for the right price.

Wait till Mathews signs with the KHL because Lamourello plays hard ball with him on bonuses.

You're right. We have a tiny bit of defensive depth now, how bout we discuss trading away one of the best defensive Dmen in the league for a bag of pucks?

With all this talk of us needing a big physical goal scoring winger does anyone else think this means JV is starting in Utica next year?? If another top 9 winger is added the options for JV will be the 4th line or utica..

Im hoping for him in Utica playing top minutes so im hoping this is the plan
