Leafs fan so forgive my Western ignorance but is Paajarvi really good enough to be included in that sentence?

I'm assuming the Magnus Paaijarvi mention is a joke to see if anyone reading is paying attention? Unless you are talking about the lucrative contract he will receive from the Scotish elite league?

You consider your team not spending excessive $$ and handing out horrid contracts to aging, mediocre players a bust???

Poile, much like Rutherford, has improved Nashville immensely via trade last few seasons (Forsberg,Neal,PK). Other GM's should be taking notes.

Then you look ahead to potential 2017 UFA’s, and you see a different situation developing. You have Jamie Benn, Ben Bishop, Brent Burns, Kevin Shattenkirk and Magnus Paajarvi that will lead the way, that will be a bonanza for NHL GM’s, assuming none of them are re-signed by their existing clubs. Then you have the older players like Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau, Ryan Miller, etc… that may be looking for one last contract… the dollars will be flying…

He did just sign a 1 year 700k contract. Almost Jordin Tootoo money.

There's no way the Sharks are dropping Burns. The club and the player are both very committed and I expect a long term contract will be underway once GM Wilson deals with the RFA situation.
