Do you think Hagg's chances of being an nhl contributor have decreased since his draft days, increased, or stayed the course? Also-if he does not have a breakout-ish season this year could he be potential trade bait down the road?

If he's as good as he is in NHL16, which we know its the best gauge for player's growth patterns, he's going to be a freaking stud two way defender.

Crushing people as he hoists the cup.

Thanks for the post on Haag. Well done, as always, Bill.

Hagg sounds like a good guy to keep around at least for another contract after the ELC to me. Everything I read makes me believe he can make it as a long time player if there is patience and if he can relax a bit. I know about being your own worst critic and it's tough at times to realize that if you just go out and do your job it will lead to the outcome you want.

I'd like to impeach your opinion on this matter.

I put up 150+ points in one season w/ Ghost.

My favorite stat however was scoring 50 goals with Read but only registering 11 assists.

Really hope Hagg settles down and puts it all together and turns himself from an often overlooked defensive prospect to a legit top 4 defenseman. And the Flyers, like they did with Manning, should give him every opportunity to succeed.

Mason led the league in shutouts and GAA but had a sub .900 save percentage.

I am strongly considering picking up NHL 17 for be a gm. Between that and joining a 10-12 cap fantasy league this coming yr, I think it should satisfy my urge to be an NHL gm lol.

I hope he comes out of left field like Nik Hjalmarsson did for the 'Hawks.

I can't even make a trade in my fantasy league let alone pretend to be knowledgeable in front of a bunch of educated general managers

I think it has stayed the same. If this past year had been his AHL rookie season rather than his 2nd year, I think there would be more understanding of his inconsistency. The organization itself, though, seems to recognize that it's still the product of being a very young player.

Seems to me Hagg is in the same boat as his draft year. Uneven performance with flashes of having a top pair skill set. That's why he was there in the second round. I think it's a matter of him putting it all together. He does that and he's an impressive player.

Yea..but not all of you guys agree with me...

If I could be a gm, I would build from the back out, probably draft a d prospect every first round (unless a steal of a forward was there) and built a team with a stacked d and money puck forwards) while stockpiling as many draft picks as possible. On top of that I would always try to be a few mill under the cap for flexibility.

While trying to find a coach to run a system thats a mix of the current flyers system/and the old devils system.

It wouldn't be anything close to flashy, but I feel like it would always have a chance to win.

I think there is PLENTY of time for Hagg to develop, frankly I don't even think this season is a critical one in his development (in the sense that if its another uneven season, or one where he only makes minor progress, you don't write him off as a failure). These things take time, and I think the flyers are wise for not pushing him or showing frustration.

Seems like it'll be hard for Morin and Hagg to get much PP time with Brennan, O'Neill and Sanheim joining the Phantoms.

Hagg and Morin have another two years till they would have to pass thru waivers so while this is a huge season for both of them, you're right, it's not totally critical.

They will have to earn it, which was one of the reasons Hexy brought these guys in.

Exactly, I would argue this yr is a little more important for Moran, but there is still time with both of them.
