Ever heard of denial ? Every star player gets thrown under the bus following a trade from their former fan base.

Those fiery French Canadians are known to get riled up, but will ultimately fall into line and love the guy with the Habs logo on his jersey.

Rumor has it the producers of Futurama were originally going to use this...

I didn't like Subban when he first came into the league, but I actually enjoy him now. I'll like him a lot more as a Predator. Just sad that Weber had to go, and I don't know how I can root for him now that he's a Canadien.

Maybe they'll start another city-wide riot if Shea Weber ever gets suspended.

"One of the best hockey players in the league" lol. What I find funny is that when Subban was still with the Habs, nobody gave him any appreciation for his game outside of the Montreal fan base. How many times has Subban been made fun of for his defensive game or his selfish attitude on the ice by other fans and even other analysts? Habs fans used to say he was one of the best defensemen in the game and always ridiculed in return with people listing off 5-10 defensemen that are better, (Weber was always on that list by the way). But now that he plays for another team everybody's raving that he's the greatest defenseman that ever laced up a pair of skates and the habs were foolish to trade such a talent. Bunch of hypocrites.

I think guys like Subban are great for the game. There are too many robots in the league who are afraid to voice their opinion.

I have many friends who are Habs fans........none of them liked PK, they were tired of his antics and selfish play. Radulov has done nothing wrong in a Canadiens Jersey, yet, and they are willing to give him a chance. If he doesn't step into line he will be run out of town as well. Don't get me wrong here, these same fans used to lavish praise on PK, and I think if the team was winning they would put up with his, all about me attitude.........but obviously that's not the case.

Bye PK. Love that you're in West now. That way you'll destroy the Bruins 2 times a year. Best of luck.

Ya no...don't think a single person in Montreal was happy with this trade

For 2 days after the trade, all everyone was talking about is how Bergevin should be fired...

This is the most lopsided deal in NHL history. Bergevin got schooled.

Habs fans are trying to make excuses as they usually do but even most of them can't even justify this trade.

Oilers are full of talent and got exactly what they we're looking for. Larsson is not a flashy defenseman but he's going to eat a ton of minutes. He moves the puck well and defends well. What they needed!

As a Preds fan I watched the Montreal/Boston playoff series two years ago ? Montreal won that series (I believe it was in 7) and Subban was a beast in every aspect. Haven't stopped watching him since.

totally unbiased opinion.

Subban is built for this NHL. Weber was built for it but reality is both are still a top 10 dman in the league, I have them top 5 to 10, but that is me.

I dont like Weber's age comparison to Subban, his retirement recapture still affecting NSH but as of today, I like Weber's game more but no one can doubt Subban's effectiveness either.

I think both teams will be fine and equal for the next 1-2yrs, however I think Weber style, age will have him drop from elite status sooner giving MTL some issues with their cup window, while NSH just extended theirs.

If I had to pick a "winner" so far, it would be NSH -- but if that recapture penatly via Weber's retirement is some scary.

*Habs fans, like many other fans are no different... spin it until you hear what you like then start believing it. Some DET fans think Abbey, Ericsson and Helm are worth their contracts too... so no exceptions, dont be surprised Paul.

I think the confusing thing was whether this article was taking shots at the Montreal fanbase or the organization which are two different things.

I mean go nuts, but maybe pick one target.

The bolded is completely right.

At first everyone wasn't happy with the trade, or at least most people.

Now we're trying to look at it the good way, saying how Weber will be great with the Habs and how Subban's attitude was a problem with his teamates (I guess it was otherwise he'd still be here).

Nashville got a great player who will probably be at the top of his game for longer than Weber will be for us. I still think they won that trade but anyone calling it "the worst trade in history" clearly has no memory of recent trades.... Habs got a great player in this trade and so did Nashville.

This whole column makes no sense. The fan base loved the guy, one of the most popular Canadiens players in a long time. This blogger had zero clue, there's like maybe 5% of Habs fans who might dislike him, but that might even be a stretch.

The fact that you said "most lopsided deal in NHL history" leads me to believe you either started following hockey a few weeks ago, or have some sort of brain damage.
