I'd love to see a round two Nux vs Broons SCF... get the juices flowing... Backes is a guy I could start to hate in a series... We've got Burrows for one more season before he probably moves on. Not sure who would replace him on the hate meter for other fans though...

I think both players (Backes and Eriksson) will see significant decline in their play during the latter half of their contracts. Of course that is unfortunately what the market dictated. I think the power forward type of player declines much faster, though, so I feel the Bruins would have been better off keeping Eriksson.

That said, Backes is certainly saying all the right things and looks to be re-energized going forward. Only time will tell if this was a good signing. Hopefully both players pan out for their new respective teams. I am optimistic that, as concerns Eriksson, he will be a good fit in Vancouver (especially given he's already demonstrated excellent chemistry with the Sedins). On the other hand, who do you think Backes should end up playing with?

maybe he has some chemical pick me ups that aren't being factored into the equation? Chara is almost 40 and still playing, might have some eastern european elixir to share with Backes...

Canucks are so far away from that it's somewhat comical......

JB and company have made damn sure of that.

He’s done his due diligence with a number of players that we have on the horizon.
Who are these players on the horizon? I'm being totally serious I have no idea about Bruins prospects except the 3 that got picked last year. Is he talking about DeBrusk and Pasternak?

Why are they in a win now mode? Need to tear it down and rebuild immediately. Everyone else sees it. First step is to fire their insane GM.

Yeah? Buffalo is rated number 3 and they shouldn't be rated that high. Plus, Boston's top prospects are Zorbil and Subban, and I'm not sure if I mentioned it in the post but I was referring to forwards. There top rated forward is Griffith (behind Pasternak of course) and isn't he on the older side or am I mistaken? Again, I'm not trying to poke fun or start any trouble...I was just wondering what young talent Backes was interested in playing with is all.

I know your jealous that Vesey is coming to us

Only kidding, who knows where he ends up....what happened with Hayes anyways? There's a rumor that Hayes told Vesey to be careful about going to the Bruins, or something like that?

I need to get some info here because I'm missing something. McQuaid, K Miller, and Liles; do you guys see those as solid contracts? I was of the mind the former is a #5 Dman and the latter are #6 Dmen (if not 7s). Did I miss something with the Bruins last year where Miller took a leap? Is Morrow still tracking as a top-4 Dman?

I mean no disrespect, I'm just trying to get an idea of what's going on with the blueline.

If Hayes did that then he's an even bigger female dog than we all thought.

But seriously, Vatrano and Pasternak are already top 6 forwards. Spooners pretty good. Heinen is one of the best players coming out of college this year. Gabrielle scored 40 in the WHL. Forsbacka-karlsson is the college version of Bergeron apparently. Good stuff coming soon

Would you really go that far? As far as the roster, is this what you'd be looking at?

March- Bergeron- Pasta
Vatrano- Krejci- Backes
Beleskey- Spooner- Hayes (?)
Other miscellaneous players

I'm really excited about the Backes signing. Not afraid to say that the Bruins are the deepest team at the center position in the eastern conference possibly the entire league.

Obviously, I'd like to see improvements on the blue line but overall I like this team.

San Jose has that title on lock. Thornton, Pavelski, Marleau, Couture, Tierney, Hertl, and Wingels are all capable Cs. Beyond that, they're likely among the top-5 along with Colorado, Tampa, and Florida.

That's good because as a Sabres fan living in Mass I want to see some competitive games! I went to the game the Bruins and Sabres played the day after Christmas when Eichel had 2 goals and 2 assists...what a game that one was!

Never heard of this Forsbacka-Karlsson...what team did he play for and does he have the same offensive potential as Bergeron?

He had 30 points for BU as a freshman last year. If you read a scouting report, youd literally think it was talking about Patrice.

Man, how'd I miss him at the Bean Pot?! I think I was too busy drooling over McAvoy...you guys got a good one in him. I think he could be an all-star defenseman for you guys one day. Kids got wheels and a cannon!

You go to the cup finals in 2013.
Then you come back, miss....you loose Johnny Boychuk due to $.
1 year later (1yr ago) you trade Lucic, Hamilton.....Smith.
Then you let go of Eriksson after such a strong year (signing Belesky)
Now you sign Backes and Liles .....and....now what?

If I was a fan, I'd be happy at least my team was doing something. But the depletion on D means they need to get younger and rebuild OR do a retool and hope that the players your bringing in will be ready to play fitting roles when you do contend.

Backes in 2 year will have A LOT of miles on him. He may want to be the same player, but his body combined with his age may not. By that time, who do you have to contend with? Marchand, the centers, and Krug will be..

I think they'd be good to get Yakupov - Spooner's teammate from Kingston. Try and turn him into a good 2nd line winger. But doubt a trade happens with PC. That Larsson deal
