Happy with Chia's moves so far. Hope there's more to come. Bit of an overpay on the Hall trade now but I think we'll have the better of the deal in the end. |

Wrong. We lost the trade miserably, it isnt even close. And it's OK for us all to acknowledge that the trade was historically bad. We can move on from this and so can the team, but only if they now go out and get a defenseman who can help them. |

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Chiarelli got hosed on the deal. Adam Larsson is not as good or high valued as Taylor Hall. I know he made the trade to make room for Milan Lucic, but i think he'll begin to regret that later on. Ive seen Hall play countless times, he's a much better player than Lucic. More pts per game and overall better player. But Lucic was brought in to watch the golden goose's back and add in some offense when possible. I still think NJ won this trade. |

We really could use his experience, being a Stanley Cup champion and all now.

Could probably get Wiz on a 1 year deal. Low risk. |

I didnt think Schenn looked terrible in LA, but hes not that good to make a difference on that D Core. Wis would be the best value however I get the feeling that you guys will sign Schenn |

This trade isn't as one sided as you think. Sure the bigger name went the other way, but there is more to it than just stats. To say the lose miserably without Larsson playing a game in Edmonton is just a little short sighted (like most of your blogs). We assume the Oilers needed a top end scoring defenseman, but good ones who can play defence too, well they are few and far between. I don't think Daughty, Burns, Keith or Webber would've been traded for Hall straight up. I believe a future comparison for Larsson is that of Bent Seabrook. If you had that option would you do it? Not now because of his age, but if you could do it heading in to his prime? Most likely.
As for needing offence from the back end, we don't really need to make a trade. Klefbom and Nurse have the ability to do it. They've done it at other levels. This year if everyone stays healthy and they don't have to over play Nurse, he could surprise a lot of people. He has the speed, shot and hockey sense to do it. |

It wouldn't be the worst idea. I could live with a Davidson/Schenn bottom pair.
Let Reinhart and Nurse develop in the AHL. |

They are all just depth guys, so if you can sign one for under 1.2m, I dont think it matters |

With a healthy squad, who does Nurse bounce? I like the kid but he isn't better than Klefbom, Sekera or Davidson. I hope he gets a long look at the AHL until injuries force him into the big club.

Seabrook almost had as many GOALS last year as Larsson had total points. There is nothing to suggest he is like Seabrook at all.
Larsson can be a useful player, but you are setting yourself up for a lot of undue stress and disappointment if you think his comparable is Seabrook.
