Gotta expect Bishop is gone.
He is easily replaced by the guys developing in teh system the last few years at a much more palatable price tag.
Pick/prospect and Niemi coming back the other way? His deal is done after next year so retaining salary may not be too bad a problem.

Niemi has two years left. Why pay someone more than our starter who would be Vasy not Niemi. I'd move out Filp for the same money and keep Bishop. Trade deadline is not til February, plenty of time to fine tune Vasy with Bishop still here. We can sign Kuch, Killorn and Vlady with the 13 in cap space. Moving Filp and retaining some will free up enough to operate with Koekkoek, Marsh and Blunden who will get two way contracts.

You only lose one player Niemi wouldn't even be top three available from the Bolts.

I can certainly see Dallas retaining salary if we were to include a goalie in any trade for Bishop. Otherwise we'd just buy one out.

I don't really know the "needs" for TB. Do you have a goalie that's ready to be a backup, or would one have to come back in any trade? Is it d-men or forwards you'd covet?

I will say that its extremely doubtful Klingberg is involved in any deal. It just won't happen IMO. He is our clear #1 d-man.

As I said, I don't really know the needs of TB, so I mean no disrespect by the following proposals, I'm just throwing them out there....

1) Bishop for a first and/or second/third round pick (falls in line with Calgary/STL deal)
2) Bishop for Lindell or Oleksiak
3) Bishop for Hemsky (both ufa after next season I believe)
4) Bishop for one of our goalies with salary retained and a second/third round pick.

Just wondering if any of those could seal a deal. Not trying to be a doofus lol.

We don't need another goalie or forwards so picks will be the best bet, we are trying to free cap space not refill it with other players otherwise just keep Bishop. You guys already have 11.5 mil in goalies what the hell are you going to do with another one?

As I said, we would just buy one of them out. Bishop is an obvious upgrade to what we have now.

Edit: Just wanted to add that Lindell and Oleksiak come in at under $1 million each I believe.

For me, theres no way I'd trade Nuke. I know you have to give to get, but I'd rather keep Nuke. I think he's gonna be a beast. He basically lost a year due to his hip surgery, so this past season to me, was not an indication of what is ahead for him.

Throw in Hedman and we'll talk.

If we are trading Bishop to Dallas and taking back a goalie it would the lower priced goalie with salary retained and your prospect right handed puck moving D-man Honka (he is what the Lightning need)

The only way I would take niemi back in a trade for bishop is with a contract like Callahan going with bishop

Hmmmm..... I think that's overpayment for Bishop, sorry. For us to retain salary AND throw in Honka would require another player from TB coming back as well Id like to think. Nill and the rest of the management are very high on Honka, and for good reason. He's got top 4, if not top 2 D-man potential. Id feel much better if it were Lindell and/or Oleksiak.

Having said that, we do have Klingberg, so if Honka were to be involved, I still think TB would have to add another piece, maybe two.

Honka is the only piece I would want, Lightning do not need lefty D like Lindell and Oleksiak. Tampa is short in one area and that righty puck moving D men. I think its Honka or bust as far as prospects and taking back one of Dallas's goalies is big as the Lightning don't have much cap space so to make it worth it to trade Bishop for the Lightning the accompanying piece needs to meet a need hence Honka. I'm not opposed to adding a piece from Tampa's side.

Honka, Niemi with 1.5M retained for Bishop (extended of course) + ????

What would you think is fair? You know what I would want, what would it take to get it done? Our D prospect Koekkoek is off limits he will be on 3rd pair next year but anything else let me know.

I would do that but I don't think Dallas needs a center.

You mean the same Dallas that just traded Goligoski and is about to lose both Demers and Russell? They're gonna trade their top and only top pairing Dman? Most definitely not.

No to anything involving Klingberg IMO. I'm sure Nill feels the same way, regardless of the insanity from yesterday, lol. Unless your talking Hedman, then perhaps there is something there. I don't think we'd be interested in Filppula. We've got young cheap guys ready to play.

As for what other parts could make a deal work for both, I really don't know. Maybe we'll find out in the next little bit, but I wont be surprised if nothing happens until much later on, if at all. Would love to have Bishop, I just don't think Honka, Klingberg, or Nichushkin can be involved. Not without something decent coming back besides Bishop anyways. That's just me tho. I'd rather go with our goalies we have now than lose those guys to be honest.

Theres always MAF Dallas could look at as well. I'd rather have Bishop tho.
