I swear they traded hall just so it would be easier to name mc david captain. everyone wanted hall to be captain so they traded him so everyone wants mc david to be captain so the media focus on him even more when the team sucks.

When the Oilers drafted McDavid I asked if that effectively ended Hall's tenure in Edmonton since he was the heir apparent to the "C", but you can't just not name McDavid captain. Thought that may cause too big a lockerroom headache.

No you don't have to name him captain at all and they didn't have to trade hall to do it. Hall just happened to be a douche in the locker room and now it opens the door for the new guy to be captain.

It really is astonishing that if you are going to shop Hall you don't ask every single team to see what they would offer. It makes no sense, I don't care if they got the guy they wanted they could have gotten so much more.

I can only imagine Shero's reaction after he hung up the phone.

You get another second pairing defenseman and Edmonton is still a 1D away (extremely important piece that you can't succeed without), but between Sekera, Kleffbomb, and the new guy you have 3 legit top 4 D men and the defense is no longer a tirefire, especially if Nurse does something. Jesus. That Hall trade is gross incompetence by Edmonton.

You know as a leaf fan it amazes me how the same guy who took the leafs for 2 firsts and a second for Kessel was the same guy who made the seguin and hall trades. What the hell???

I heard kessel was a the worst locker room cancer to ever exist from the toronto media. so what? he came here and we had the best locker room we have ever had this year. everyone came together to form a great atmosphere but I guess kessel is still a cancer. I do detest the fact that Taylor Hall plays for Jersey now, though. I've always liked him.

Carryover from last blog, I hate to keep beating the same drum but we were all talking about just keeping the team in tact.

The before mentioned Niemi + Nuke for Fleury deal I think keeps the team relatively intact, and addresses top 6 LW with huge upside. I think its worth taking on a turd like Niemi given hes just a backup and we still net some cap savings or at least stay even (pending Nukes next deal). I think it's worth the downgrade to Niemi as a backup because hes just a backup.

Nuke is reportedly unhappy with how hes being used in Dallas and they get their goalie.
