Peter Tessier: Jets Should take a run at Dan Hamhuis Does it makes sense? Perhaps and Chevy has to prepare for the weakness on the left side regardless of what happens with Trouba.

Not a Hamhuis fan, doesn't seem like a guy who really wants to win. Patrick Wiercioch makes more sense.

I agree with Hamhuis on a 1-2 year deal for fair value. Barrett Jackman is getting bought out, how did he look last year? I also think Morrisey will surprise a few this year and look ready.

I feel sorry for Jackman. He played well. Did everything he was asked and did it effectively. I'd be game for Jackman on the third pairing.

Hamhuis wants to win as badly as anyone, he is just more low key, as that is his personality. Frankly, I'm disappointed that the Canucks didn't want to bring him back. He had a difficult season last year with the horrific facial injury and didn't really get into a groove until the end of the season but I think he still has a few good years left. Also a great player to mentor someone like Trouba and the other younger players. Class act all the way.

James Wisnewski is the guy we should be targeting. He just got bought out and could be a temporary replacement for Trouba once we trade him.

Or even Matt Carle could be a great left side defensemen for us as well.

All in favour of signing two of Hamhuis, Jackman, and Wisniewski to one/two year deals as a third pairing?

I 2nd Wiercioch. Carle isnt very good, on an elite team. So please stay away from him. Wiercioch is a possession driver, and would come cheap. Hams will probably be looking at the lo gest term he can get, being his last substainal contract.

If Hamhuis is to be Trouba's partner (assuming he's actually signed), does that make it:
Enstrom-Byfuglien
Hamhuis-Trouba
Chairot-Myers
With Myers seeing the PP time Hamhuis won't?
Or
Chairot-Byfuglien
Enstrom-Myers
Hamhuis-Trouba
With Chairot getting another shot with Buff and all 3 pairings splitting the ice time?

Jets should go after Pirri, 2yrs at 2mil/per. Young, good corsi numbers & impressive ppg. Plays center & wing, could slot in on 3rd line & as a shooter, he would greatly improve our pp.

Ladd contract is too funny. He wanted to be in a great family place that was closer to Kelowna, & with a cup contender. Signs with NYI for less, where everyone wants out because of the practice arena/commuting issues, and is considered to be one of the worst family places. Nobody in the Western Conference wanted him at those numbers. So glad he is gone, Chevy got very lucky!
