Columbus is remarkably close to the cap but have a pretty filled out roster. They can deal with it. Great signing.

Unless a trade will follow , how is busting the cap a good thing?

Time's up!!! Worry about the cap....

'cause yer screwed and I have just solution..... trade us Hartnell.... for one of our LW prospects.... say Matt Peumple.

you'd save $3M

Well obviously a trade is coming. I mean their options were sign Jones to an amazing contract and move a piece later or don't sign Jones and essentially lose Johansen for pieces via offer sheet.

With the great season Hartnell had they should be able to move him for a solid prospect or pick and a one year deal contract at $3M or less.

Jarmo Kekalainen had said yesterday he doesn’t care what it would cost

Interesting. Assuming Ottawa is ok with taking on that cap space I wonder if this is enough to get it done. It is a solid prospect but Hartnell is still a very useful player.

I wonder if Smith & Puempel for Hartnell would be enough for Ottawa to pull the trigger on.

maybe ..... but it does not offer CBJ the same amount of cap relief + Smith is more valuable than your typical 3LC ... he was great last year as a fill in 2LLW .....
