While some turnover is needed on the 3rd/4th lines, Lewis is a keeper.....skating ability allows him to get to the right place both offensively and defensively. Oh, for a pair of hands......but earns his keep in every other way. |

Brett Connolly and Landon Ferraro could be a couple guys to go after that are likely to be cheap. And wont have to trade players to get them since the Bruins let them walk. |

Most current Kings fans have no idea who Rogie was......basically the cornerstone of the first competitive Kings teams built by Bob Pulford in the 70's. A little surprised he made the Hall, always thought he was a very good but not great goalie.....but probably the fact he pretty much carried the team on his back for much of his LA career, plus his Cups with Montreal probably got him over the top. Congrats to Rogie, glad the HOF voters took a closer look after many years..... |

I very much know who Rogie is.
There has been a lot to write about lately and I simply didn't get around to it/didn't mention it.
Sorry folks. |

I am ok with this deal, just surprised that not much else has happened - MikeOxbyg Its going to be slow. The money Dean has to work with is so little. And hes got many holes to figure out. Weather its a couple dman. Or a top 6 forward. Or a combination of the 2. Such a small amount to work with. And the fact that 1 or 2 players will perhaps have to be traded to make a combination happen.
I'm def salty that Lucic is gone. And money wise. I understand. But I'm totally not cool with losing assets for 1yr rentals. And I think last year wasn't a time to make a bold move. Esp after missing the playoffs. The trade I like. If you know you got the guy for a longer term. But a potential rental. That stings. |

Don't count me as one of those fans. I know exactly who he is.... Didn't know who he was when I was about 8 and sat next to him at dinner along with Mr. Leiweke. Dad had to tell me who was. Made sense when I noticed some of the scars he had from not wearing a mask all those years |

Really nice analysis.
One of the things that struck me reading through the tables is something that many of us lose sight of, well at least I do, and it is the value of Dustin Brown. Obviously his contract is terrible and he comes nowhere close to justifying it. And it will get worse with time. But damn if this analysis doesn't provide some perspective. Given that he posts defensive numbers that are in many respects comparable to Lewis's, and he puts up some albeit limited offense, he is probably a player that is still earning somewhere around $3m or so. Yes, he is dramatically overpaid, but he is far from worthless.
Call it wishful thinking but if he just gets a little lucky with a couple of point increase in his shooting percentage, and perhaps gets a little PP time with Lucic gone, it's not hard to squint and see him score 15-18 goals this year and be much easier to deal next year as a consequence. |

He didn't get anywhere near Marcus Krueger money, so I'm satisfied with this deal. |

Be patient. I'm sure that there's an "Inducting Vachon Is the Right Call for the Hall" or "Why You Should Be OK with Vachon Going to the Hall" article in this blog's future |

I like your positive attittude but I give DB 1/5 for hockey sense. Unfortunately I watch every Kings game and I'm tired of seeing the turnover machine out there. Is there a pooptier passer on the Kings? Maybe Carter on the PP. Advanced stats don't apply to this jerk off. |
