when you're system is as deep as the Jets is now they have the luxury to trade up and go get the player they want. No big deal giving up the second rounder; and they guy they took in 3 had a 2nd round grade anyway. I'm happy they drafted 3 D in first 4 rounds.

Best hockey-related news today was reading that Glen Healey got the boot from HNIC.

I think there were 4 Dmen taking with picks 13,14,16 and 17. That's a "run" if he's your guy go get him , that's what good teams do.

Our left D is still bottom 5'ish in the league so drafting more D was smart but landing a top 4 man in a trade or FA would be nice.......

If you can land Okposo for 5 year $4-$5 per you have to look hard at that

I don't know that the defence needs all that much help.
Trouba-Byfuglien
Enstrom-Myers
Chairot-Postma
That's a group in comfortable with. Trouba gets his shot to prove himself with Buff, Enstrom and Myers take all the hard assignments, and Chairot and Postma played well together. It's moving Pav that'll become a problem.
Stay away from Okposo. Whatever he's signed for won't be what he's worth/ what he contributes. Without Tavares, you can knock 15 points off his expected production.

Actually Okposo plays well without Tavares. He proved that during the year Tavares was injured. As for injuries, he would not be asked to play the same hard minutes as he is with the NYI. We have more depth.

Fair, but he would also be in the way of Connor, Petan, Dano, and Armia all potentially ready for that job.

I would much rather have prospects marinate in the minors like the Detroit model.

I agree, but two (Armia and Dano. Especially Dano) already NHL players and Petan will make the jump any time now. Connor needs to add muscle, the rest of his game is top 6.

it'll be interesting with Okposo, sounds like a lot of teams are in on him and the salary will probably get closer to 6 which in that case i might back off

Postma is worse than Stuart, I didnt even like how he played in his own end for the Moose

Postma is faster, makes better decisions with the puck, and has great shot. He's been NHL ready since we got the team, but hasn't been given a chance as his defensive game used to be full of holes. There were a few games last year where he looked like the best defensman we had. Postma and Chairot put up exceptional numbers in their few games as a pairing. Every time I've mentioned his name you've gone out of your way to see he shouldn't be playing, but all of the Jets fans I've talked to have suggested moving him to any other team so he can actually play and be appreciated.

"Leafs Do Not Qualify Percy"
Wasn't there some Toronto guy who suggested that we take Percy in a trade..?

what can i say? I just dont think Postma is an NHL Defenceman. Yes, he is very fast but doesn't think or see the game well. I just completely disagree with you and all the other fans who seem to be on your side. It does seem by Postma's lack of playing time that Maurice agrees with me a bit though.

I have to agree on both Postma points.
I don't think he is good enough to be a NHL regular, but I hope he gets a chance with a different team to show his stuff.

If Chevy is able to sign Okposo then it gets a lot easier to trade one or two of Dano, Armia, Petan etc to someone who has a LHD we could use now. For example the Kings are in a bit of cap trouble and could spare Alex Martinez. Swap him for a prospect/pick and we are in great shape heading into next year!

I think the best situation that gets created by signing a guy like Okposo and or trading for Duchesne is that it give prospects more time to develop properly as opposed to being rushed. It also creates an additional level of urgency amongst the prospects to try to get better faster. I am all for allowing top prospects to spend a year or two in the AHL to get really good so that when they debut they look like superstars right from the get go.
