Great coach signing, but who do you dump Vanek on to sign Dumba, etc.?

Fellow Wild fans what do you think of this deal....

Trade Brodin and our 1st round pick (15th)
To Edm for Yakupov and 1st round pick(4th)

We use the 4th pick to take Tkachuk
Save about $1.5 in salary the we use to sign Backes or Frans Nielsen

Buyout Vanek

Here are our top 3 lines

Parise Backes/Nielsen Granlund
Nino Haula Pommer
Yak/Zucker Koivu Coyle

Can't just dump Vanek on another team, due to the NMC. He's going to have to OK any move other than a buy out.

Seeing that the Wild are in on Okposo is nice...just what we need another secondary scorer that needs a good center to make them better. (Recalling Vanek and Pominville signings) Now, if we can just get that top tier center.

Looking back at this season, a Dumba for Johanson trade would have been nice...and snatching Drouin for Zucker and a 1st would have been a steal too. Oh well...Hindsight is always 20/20. Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens this weekend so we can second guess Fletcher all summer long.

I was really ready to scream at you for being a goof...BUT it looks like it could maybe work. Depends on how much We over value Brodin and Edm over values their pick?

Also, Backes could be really expensive and if he wants the rumored $6m/6ydeal. Our wagon is then hitched to Parise/Backes/Suter/Pominville while they start to physically fall apart over the next 3+ years. That is not going to be pretty.

However, we get a very high end prospect. A possible young reclaimation like Nino in Yak. Our window is to win the Cup in the next 4 years with Parise and Suter...even Dubnyk for that matter. I would take the character of Backes as our leader for the next 3 to 4 years over smallish options like RNH or even Duchesne. The options are slim. Or we sit on the FA signing this year and see how the expansion draft plays out. It suits us best to move any of our top 5 defensemen now as we are going to lose at least one of them anyway.

Quotes don't work on my phone so forgive me. I know Brodin is good and is a need of EDM, but I think you might need to add another peice to that, maybe a 2nd or 3rd next year?

Word is value of Yak is a late 2nd to 3rd.

Brodin is worth more than Yak, their pick is worth more than ours.

Seems like the values are pretty spot on to me.

We get 2 young high potential forwards for the price of a young defensemen and a mid 1st prospect.

I like it.

Agreed, time is now for the Wild. Zach and Ryan are goinig to start their decline soon.

Yak could be a huge steal. Possibly as big as NSH getting Johansen. Would hate for that to be the 3rd one we miss on in a year.

I do like Backes. In my mind though, we need another guy to bridge that gap between the vets and the youth. Duchesne would be a killer addition. Parise's tenacity and Duchesne's skill would be a pretty wicked combo.

I agree as well. I just hope we do something. Standing pat is not an option this year like we did last off season and virtually all of last season from a personnel standpoint.

Sometimes a change in chemistry or the make up of a team is all it takes.

We lose Brodin and get Yakupov? No thanks. If the Wild are going to trade a defenseman to Edmonton, I think they should be targeting Draisaitl. But I think it will take at least two defensemen to make that trade work for the Oilers, maybe even a bigger package.

You are missing the point that we also get a very highly rated prospect. Something our farm system hasn't seen since Granlund joined the Wild.

Actually, I'm not. That prospect is one that you don't have in your projected lineup. So, gaining that highly rated prospect doesn't help them this year. If they would pick 4th and take Tkachuk, he would be playing in London if he doesn't make the team this year. So he wouldn't be helping in Iowa either.

I'm not against trading for that pick, but I don't think they should weaken their blueline without significantly upgrading their forwards. And in my opinion, Yakupov is not a significant upgrade.

Do you think Chiarelli does that deal? If so, I think Fletcher would go for it.

This year is patchwork year at best, Vanek will most certainly be bought out, we are still stuck with Pominville, and Koivu on bad deals. Next year we get some cap relief and a fulll draft, still a few years away im afraid.

insane!! tkachuk is the same type of player as tuch.. probably not as good and three years from playing and producing in the nhl.. did you watch last season at all?? backes didn't score at his normal rate and looked horribly slow in a league that's speeding up.. vanek buyout i agree.. nielsen i like but doesn't score enough goals to be someone fletch probably wants and is what we already have in haula, same kinda player.. yak is worth nothing right now someone will pick him up for virtually nothing he's basically zucker, we might as well just swap the two and see if it kick starts one of them.. young goal scorer's not scoring maybe a change in scenery will help them both.. bottom line the wild need a goal scorer not a leader or grinder!! they need someone other than parise to score 30 goals.. who care's if it's a C or W fletch just needs to use one of the D men in a trade to get more goals. we need a sniper
