No
The Toronto trade made it clear who gets protected

With the 22nd overall pick... Jets should draft 6 foot 7 inch left handed defenceman Logan Stanley.... If they trade the pick for a player that is ready to step into that role this year, whoever it is may be lost through expansion draft... If Enstrom is taken in the draft, worry about it then... In the perfect world, if that happens, hopefully morrissey or Stanley will be ready to step into the role by the 2017-18 season

I wonder if the Jets wouldnt be interested in Derrick Pouliot to shore up the future of their left side D. Tons of talent but just hasnt had the right opportunity with the Pens.

I agree Stanley could be an option for them at 22, but Pouliot would be a guy that is much further along in development and could step into their lineup next season. Could make sense for both teams if Pens are considering moving Pouliot.

Pouliot would be a great addition to the left side for the jets... Not sure if they'd be able to protect him though during the expansion draft.. Because of that, jets should not make a run at him until after the expansion draft.....

In hindsight, in the 2012 draft, pens should've drafted Trouba at 8th overall, jets should've drafted pouliot at 9th overall..

The jets need depth on the backend no doubt. does anyone believe the jets could package the 22nd and 36th to move up somewhere around 10? does that do it? might get a quality d prospect around that pick

Trouba for Klefbom. Both teams get what they want (albeit for a price neither wants to pay, if at all possible).

I don't entirely agree. Edmonton's primary "want" (more of a "need" really) is to improve their backend. While Trouba's handedness really helps, that move likely actually hurts the D corps right now more than it helps. Add Klefbom's contract and Trouba's lack thereof and I don't think it makes sense.

Would adding to Nurse help close a deal with him? I know he's not as established as Klefbom or Trouba, but I don't think you don't lose much (or anything) as far as future potential and gain in cap savings, LH-RH balance, and not needing to protect Nurse in the expansion draft (ie keeping Enstrom AND Myers).

Klefbom is the better player at this point, for sure. Trouba for Nurse would be the trade if it happened, especially with that point about the expansion draft. Toby and the giraffe are kind of indispensable. Especially as a pairing.

Nurse for Trouba, let's go.

So no addition needed?

I had the quoting working for a day. Now it won't. And you better believe you're adding something. Don't care what. I'm not as high on Trouba as I used to be. I know Dmen are almost as weird development wise as goalies, but he's regressed.

Maybe I'm missing something but doesn't Enstrom have a NMC which means he has to be protected? I've seen that in a couple of places. I've also seen somewhere that Myers has NMC so if so that would mean they have no choice but to protect Buff, Enstrom and Myers as their 3 dmen. If they wanted to protect 4 of them to include Trouba they would only be able to protect 4 forwards or something like that. If Myers doesn't have one then it could be a choice between the two or protect all 4 of them and only 4 forwards.

I believe Copp is protected as well. He didn't play the 10 game threshold the year he was signed out of college, so this coming year should be considered his second year.

Is the 8-3-1 off the the table? Everything I have read still has it as an option. If that's the case, it solves the jets protection problem and you end up losing one of armia , Lowry, or dano.

Edit...sorry that should have read 8-1....my bad

Jets signed Hutchinson to a 2 year contract.
At 1.15 million per season. No mention of it being a 2way contract.

So...what does this mean for Pavvy ?
