I think that would be a nightmare scenario here. It still likely costs more to get Weber than it's worth to pay him and his play is getting worse every year.

And, the price for Trouba increases!!!!

Maybe the easiest solution for Edmonton, suffering from years of the defenseman curse, would be to

1) Convert Hall or Draisaitl to defenseman
2) Sign one of Jason Smith or Steve Staios from retirement

But realistically, its kind of disappointing how the Hamonic, Vatanen situations have limited trade targets. Fowler is still prob an option along with Shattenkirk but very limited top pairing options

I always know you're going to get angry at the blog, and yet somehow I just have to power through it and write about how the previous management put the Oilers in a position where they have to trade quality players to fix avoidable mistakes.

It's nothing new. We've been in this situation for years.

When we sign Demers to a big contract a bunch of people will celebrate. Then in a year when he doesn't come close to living up to it everyone will somehow blame Lowe and Mact. Then I and other will say told you so...

The '09 and '14 seasons were the years the oilers really needed to finish in the lottery/last. Even this year, kind of wish there was a consensus standout defenseman instead of 5-6 forwards at da top
