Is Calgary the front runner for Andersen? Will Anaheim trade him to a division rival?

If it's truly 'internal' budget driven, then trading Andersen makes sense. However, I believe Andersen is the more stable goaltender based on his style and is more likely to lead the Ducks back to a deep playoff run than Gibson. Gibson is excellent, don't get me wrong, he just seems to be more reliant on his flexibility, perhaps because of poorer positioning (compared to Andersen), if that makes sense.

Gibson is better, Gibson is cheaper, Gibson is younger, Gibson is under contract....soooooo???

Tomorrow's hot stove...should the Pens keep Crosby or Malkin?

My thought exactly....tell us something we didn't know.

While I like Gibson a while lot, and I happen to own him in my keeper league....the guy that Anaheim should be trading in Gibson.

Why?

All along I have expected the Ducks to deal Andersen, but now I am not so sure it is the best move, for one big reason....return. Andersen will not get you the return that Gibson will. I believe that the Ducks could sign Andersen to a 4 year deal for around $4 million per if they tell him that they are going to keep him and trade Gibson. He obviously wants to stay and would feel welcomed if this were to happen.

Other teams in the NHL just don't pay a ton for top goalies and there are a bunch of them out there available....especially since the Pens are going to likely look to move Fleury....but Gibson would have some serious trade value because of his age and the contract he is on. You think a team like TO or Calgary would not give up considerably more for Gibson than Andersen?

On another totally separate note....when is Anaheim going to start to give Hampus his due? Especially in the offensive zone?

I believe the Ducks are still better off dealing Vatanen....but I hope they are dumb enough to deal Lindholm. The Oilers could use a #1 dman like him....badly.

The Ducks could be like Vancouver and end up trading both Anderson and Gibson (Loungo and Schneider)

I would be surprised if the Ducks signed Andersen, then traded Gibson. Possible, but not seeing it. Murray said on Saturday talks with Andersen not going anywhere. Gibson has better career stats, is on a cap friendly deal, and is 4 years younger.

Someone mentioned Lindholm. Because he's only 22, not arbitration eligible, and was given a qualifying offer, there is zero rush to sign him. He's going nowhere. Murray said he and Rakell would be signed in September or October.

Seeing Toronto needs a goalie and also looking for D help, any idea what the fan base would expect in return for a Fowler,Anderson (Gibson?) package from TO?

I think Andersen goes up to Calgary and FLeury will be LV picked, this is most likely

Neither, keep them both. There is no market for goaltenders out there. Whichever way you slice it, Las Vegas is going to end up with a really good goaltending tandem.

Anaheim has a realistic shot at winning the cup next year. I think keeping both for a potential cup run is worth losing one for nothing.

With the defensemen Anaheim is going to have to expose, the goalies are going nowhere in the expansion draft. And those of you who keep thinking Lindholm has been ignored, listen up: Lindholm is going nowhere! Get ahold of yourselves. Just because he made the stupidest coaching hire in recent memory does not mean Bob Murray doesn't see a franchise defenseman when he sees one.

Fleury has a NMC. He will require protection in an expansion draft. Either he waives his clause and accepts a trade this year, or Matt Murray will be the first starting goalie of the Las Vegas Black Knights.
