24 years ago. Man, I can remember it like yesterday. I was excited, but bummed at the same time. Bummed because Hextall was part of the trade.

How much interest would any of you have in David Beckes? Former Selke nominee. Can take some pressure of Couturier in defensive and checking roles. Proven leader. Adds to the toughness and grit that we lack. Good in the crease.

Depending on cost, I like this fit.

I got into hockey because of the Lindros trade, and he was (and still is) my favorite player of all time. Met him a few times where I actually got to talk to him for a minute or so as a 11-12 year old kid, and always found him to be very nice, when he had time.

Still have pictures of 11-year-old me with a full-on mullet in the Coliseum parking lot alone with Eric Lindros.

Kris Russell (born May 2, 1987) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman for the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was a third round selection, 67th overall, of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and played four seasons with the team before moving on to the St. Louis Blues and then Calgary Flames. He has also played for TPS in the Finnish Liiga. Russell was a top defenceman in junior hockey with the Medicine Hat Tigers. He was a member of two Western Hockey League (WHL) championship teams, was twice named the WHL's top defenceman and won the Four Broncos Memorial Trophy as the league's most outstanding player in 2006–07. Internationally, Russell has represented Canada on several occasions: He was a member of two gold medal-winning teams at the World Junior Championship and has played in two World Championships. Kris and his twin brother Ryan briefly played together in Columbus.

I never liked players holding teams for ransom by saying they'd sit rather than play. Odd thing was both my favorite hockey and football teams have had #1 overall picks end up on them by having this stance. Lindros and Elway, both brought great times for the teams but still rubbed me wrong.

None. He'll cost way too much for a 32 year old who is likely on the downside of his career.

I think everyone was pretty excited at the time. No one knew in June of 92 how good Forsberg was going to turn out to be.

He's also kind of small, and likes puppies, walks on the beach and candlelit dinners.

I agree that it's not right, but Lindros (to me) had good reasons for not wanting to play for Quebec, and had told Marcel Aubut that he would not play for him. It wasn't anything about the team or the city, and had everything to do with the way the Nordiques management conducted business.

All I need to know is whether or not he can pass the Pepsi challenge and if he's an Old Spice man.

3) Former Flyers captain Peter Forsberg celebrates his 43rd birthday day. Today also marks the 24th anniversary of the Eric Lindros trade with the Quebec Nordiques, which sent to Quebec the rights to Forsberg, along with Steve Duchesne, Ron Hextall, Mike Ricci, Kerry Huffman, the rights to Chris Simon, Philadelphia's 1993 first-round pick (used by Quebec for goaltender Jocelyn Thibault), Philadalphia's 1994 first-round pick (used on the selection of defenseman Nolan Baumgartner) and $15 million in cash.

Should have been at least 6 more players and free cheesesteaks for a year thrown in that deal to really make it fair and reasonable.

Amazing the haul Quebec got for a player without 1 NHL game under his belt, and the franchise still folded not long after.

Foppa and Lindros on the Flyers in their primes would have been something to see...

Lou is a great guy, I've gotten to meet him a number of times through work and at Flyers games. Hopefully his message reaches this young man and his family.
