I don't see Stamkos being willing to be part of a rebuild in Toronto, but I could be wrong. I mean, how many times did we hear that x or y player would sign in Toronto as a UFA? It nevers happens.

Agree with you on Quebec getting a team. I hope it will be done at some point.

The rebuild in Toronto is over if they add Stamkos.

Stamkos, Kadri, Matthews down the middle. Gardiner and Reilly on D, plus whoever they get for JVR. And Nylander, Marner, Kapenan, Brown, Komarov on the wings.

Just sign Reimer and cake-walk to the biggest single season point increase in NHL history.

Happy Fathers Day Jimmy! 🍻

1) I agree with you about Mario, simply the best ever!

2) How about this US Open

3) On Shanahan, I'm not on the same board as you, unless they get lucky and sign Stammer, the Leafs are in for years at the bottom doing things the way they're doing them.

He's replaceable if you could pick anyone to replace him, but given realistic options and the cost of getting them, he really isn't.

They would be better served to never have traded for Kris Russel and re-signed Goligoski.

1) I think somehow Mario get's underrated, if that's even possible.

2) I don't watch golf, haven't ever been in a limo and have never owned a watch that costs more than seven dollars.

3) Stamkos or not, Leafs are a Playoff team next year.

The rumour game is bs. And I even mean the tippy top of insiders like Mackenzie or Friedman.

I think it's not neccesarily just the "easy" choice to say stamkos resigns, but it als makes a ton of sense. I don't see how one could think it doesn't?

Still gonna get Gobs of money even if it's less than some will offer.
Still a top 6 option.
In a place where he can walk down the streets with his wife and kids and not get mobbed or told off for having a bad game the night before.
Weather.
On a team that in my opinion is probably set up better than any other team to be elite and have a chance at a cup every year for the foreseeable future

Pretty sure, regardless of the TT/breadman debate, the Black Hawks are the envy of 29 other teams in the league... and now one could say the Pens because you know, they just won? The only teams others are envious of is the one that just won the cup and those that are right on the cusp.

Murray will sign 47 - or else .... Sami is solid signing wanted to stay in Ana and is coming into his own -
If Stamkos goes to the Leafs for the money that is being talked about .. it could leave them in the lurch when it comes to signing all the young guys couple of yrs from now -

The us open has been phenomenal. Best major bar none imo

Sucks that I'm in Toronto for this year and won't be with my dad.

Fathers day tradition to hang with pops and watch the final round. Usually gets us amped to go play an evening 9 holes as well...

I think they are in the right direction, but it will take time. They have a very young team that will need to learn how to win.

And why everybody want to trade JVR? He is not a bad player. They need a defenseman over him?

I guess maybe because I'm a bit older I'm into golf, awesome tv if you understand and know how extremely difficult it is to do what they're doing. They don't take shifts off, their payday is directly proportional to their performance, I like that.

Five dollars says the Leafs finish bottom five without Stamkos! Bottom 6-10 with him.

jvr is a fantastic player but i think on the wrong spectrum of age. also i dont thnik he is part of the long term shanaplan, still on a fantastic contract which makes him very valuable

Forget Russell for a minute. Alex is past his prime and wants a big deal one would assume. He isn't an elite dman by any means.

They feel he is replaceable based on what they know he is probably looking for and walked away. Will they miss him no doubt ..won't be as much as u think imo

Wondering if Toronto would trade him to Montreal. Probably not. 9th overall for him, maybe?

Mtl has to win now with the core being older. The only problem is that he would be a UFA in not so long, but mtl would have the time to resign him.

this probably why i am not a GM but with the rebuild happening. i would consider it.
also jvr has 2 years on him at this contract of less than 5 mil a year

fair enough. although lets be honest stammer is a much better player been a leader which is something the leafs desperately need. can help teach how to be a better professional. that is not a knock against jvr at all. as i believe he is fantastic. but after the two years he will want a huge raise and if i had to choose between give a huge contract to him or stammer its an easy choice. maybe age doesn't come into it as much as my original thought. lol

He's pretty cheap as of now, wich help because mtl has a few bad contracts. It would suck to see him walk in two years from now. But I think it would be a nice gamble to make for Bergevin. Anybody that they draft won't have an impact on mtl before a few years and by that time the core of the Habs will probably be too old. But you don't see a lot of trades between montreal and Toronto.

It's not like the Leafs just started building through the draft this year. They already have Rielly, Nylander, Marner, Kadri. JVR wasn't drafted by them, but he was acquired via trading a top 5 pick in L. Schenn. Drafting first overall multiplies all that. And there's the Babcock factor. Not saying they'll make the playoffs next year, because the new talent will be inexperienced, but years at the bottom from this point seems unlikely.
