I do agree that he could be traded though, with one of the biggest reasons being his NMC starts 7/2/2017
NMC's are a killer, they have to make it team policy not to give them out anymore

I think he deserves better than a C+

These players are making a ton of dough, so the NMC should not be part of the contract unless a player takes a hefty discount to sign long term. Agreed they should be used sparingly. Wouldn't be surprised if Hayes, Kreider and Miller get NMCs.

Definitely use that as a sweetener for a star UFA, no question about that. Sather's overuse of the NMC is really handcuffing the team moving forward.
I picture a bowl of NMCs next to the bowl of M&Ms in his office.

Probably the situation during negotiations. NMCs don't cost anything for the first few years, but boy does it get expensive down the road. The cap makes it tough to make a good deal nowadays, even though it hopefully means no more Redden contracts.
How the hell do Kreider & Stepan get the same grade??

Kreider at only a 2.4 hit wasn't that bad compared to Stepan's whatever it is. If Kreider and Stepan had the same cap hit then yea I would agree with you

Well if we are going by contract too, Hayes contract and Kreiders contract only 7 points different in the season, Hayes gets a higher grade.
