What do you think of Dineen Todd ? I think he would be awesome in the second if he where available I think it would be even worth moving up if he is good enough ? He is a nj native and would help build a better group of d prospects. Urbom and Roman and burlon are all long shots at this point and I'm starting to wonder about Scarlette but I might give him a bit more time before I fully decide on him.

I really like Dineen. Would love to see NJ grab him in the 2nd round if he is still on the board.

I still don't get why people think we should trade Schneider. We almost made the play offs last year and if it weren't for injuries to key players we would of been very close. Now take into account how young most of our roster is and the amount of cap we have plus our draft positioning this year how are earth do we get worse ? Adam Larson was last season and will be even more so of a beast this coming year but we should totally put ourselves in a position where we are scraping the bottom of the standings for years because in the eyes of everyone else we are clearly an entire team away from being anything.

Any thoughts on Max Jones? Seems a few bonehead moves have him slipping to the mid 20's on a lot of draft boards. Would you think trading this years second, one of our thirds this year and perhaps a 2nd or 3rd from next year would be worth it to jump back into the late first and grab him?

I'm also curious about him he had lots of hype but I still never really got the story on him or what scouts like about him.

From everything I've read/ seen pretty good scorer, decent size and speed but has a knack for taking stupid penalties, head shots, suspensions, etc.

How does he compare to a crouse ? Very similar or less talented or perhaps more ?

He's listed at 6'1" 180, so not nearly the size of Crouse. Just came off a 28 goal year with London, so he has skills.

Now that I think about it, I'd rather keep our second to draft Sam Steel. Guys got some real skills and a great hockey name.

I like Dineen too, but in the 2nd round I would prefer Adam Mascherin or Dillon Dube. Hopefully Ray trades one of the 2nd's next year to get both those guys this year.

If Dineen is available in the 2nd when we pick, I think he has to be the pick. We need to replenish the pipeline on the back end nearly as badly as we do at forward.

Great blog, not sure about bringing stemp back though. Just think growing pains for younger players is the right choice.

not interested in any 30+ players in UFA. I'm still optimistic Ray pulls off another solid off season though.

Red Wings looking to move Datsyuk because his cap hit will count if he goes back to Russia. If Shero were to bring in his cap hit, who would you like to be included in the deal? And what would we give up?

^ this. Have zero interest in Hudler because he's looking for a multi-year deal. I imagine after all these rental contracts, Stempniak's in the same boat.

Handing out term to vets isn't the direction we need to be going in.

I wouldn't mind either a draft pick or one of Tartar/ Nyquist. Shero may have to add a little more, but I'd have no problem taking on the Datsyuk contract. Helps out both clubs. After all, New Jersey has to do something to reach the cap floor.

As per Datsyuk,

Have to imagine a team like Carolina or Arizona will bring down the price for taking on Datsyuk as they might have a difficult time getting to the floor anyway and won't be a draw for big players...

I'd settle for a 2nd rounder for taking on Datsyuk if it was offered right now as I can't see the price tag being any better if he wouldn't cost any actual money due to retirement..

Having three 2nd rounders next year would be a great test for our new scouting group...

I think the names mentioned where Pulkinen and Jurco. As for Nyquist or Tatar why on earth would they move one of their best players just to get rid of one year of Datsyuks contract it just isn't worth it. If we had to eat a cap hit of 7.5 million for only one season I don't think anyone would be ok with moving out Henrique just to have the contract gone when it will be in one season anyways.

Generally agee, but if it really depends on how tradeable the player is with whatever contract you give them.

Generally agree except for needing a top 4 defenseman with a left hand shot. I'd make an exception there for a vet on a short term contract.

Campbell for 1 year would be perfect. While I would prefer Yandle, if the expansion happens, the expansion draft would occur next year and losing Severson for less would not be acceptable.

Why on earth would Detroit be looking to trade Tartar or Nyquist? Well let's start off by saying, if possible I'm sure Detroit would love to keep both of those players. However, Detroit is rumored to be in heavily on Stamkos and they will not be able to afford to keep everybody. Both Nyquist and Tartar have been brought up in rumors this past year so it's not like I'm pulling this idea out of nowhere. Trading Nyquist and Datsyuk contract to New Jersey would instantly open up the space they need to afford Stammer. As far as Tartar goes, he is in a similar situation that Palmieri was in this time one year ago. He is an RFA that will eventually need to be paid. I'm sure Detroit, like Anaheim would love to hold on to him but sometimes you got to make moves you don't want in a cap world. New Jersey will need to do something to get to the cap floor this year and I don't expect Shero to drop 10 mil per on Stamkos. A deal with the Red Wings would help both clubs out tremendously.

I get what you're saying but I don't get how it makes sense and I honestly don't think the wings have a shot in hell in getting Stamkos but we will wait and see. The way I see it, in this situation is you are losing datsyuk for nothing ( that's a given ) then You have absolutely no real idea if Stamkos will even choose Detroit and before you even know that you need to move another player that is directly making an impact on you're NHL club so now you have created 2 holes that they may or may not be able to fill to clear a contract that is only one year longer just to have a shot at signing a player who might not sign there. I think if it means parting with anything more then either pulkinen or Jurco then they just wait it out and move forward with out this Stamkos plan. I just don't see how it's smart for them to move something as proven as Gus or Tatar for something that MIGHT happen.

I agree Campbell would be ideal, since he would be looking for short term, is a LH shot and is capable of moving the puck. Something our top 4 is in dire need of.

I would like the CEVILS to pick CLAYTON if we stand pat. The move I would try i tpo get that second pick . Either Mathews. or better yet LAINE ... but that will cost .

If Clayton Keller is not Available trade down.

Does not look like we are going for Stamkos.
