Not really a fan of buying Lupul out and having a $1.5MM cap hit for the next 4 years. Let him play another season and try again to trade him at the deadline. I mean let's face it, the guy will be lucky to play half the season anyway so LTIR will be his home again.

I'd be pretty okay with Lupul playing 82 games. He'd probably put up 60+ points and a full season would set him up for trade bait. When healthy, he can score some points.

The Leafs and Tampa have already agreed to a trade for the rights of Steve Stamkos - deal is done and ink is dry. Not sure if he will be signed then formally traded or the Leafs will have the advantage with exclusive rights to speak with Stamkos pre FA.
