Detroit's going to need a hand getting out from under the dead cap space Datsyuk leaving creates and will need to move that contract and likely Howard's too to make Stamkos work. Not too many teams going to be throwing a lifeline to Detroit to help make that happen.

As a GTA resident all my life I don't see the allure of Buffalo for Stamkos, but that's just me.

Detroit will have an anchor in Pavel Datsyuk's 7.5 million dollar contract hanging on their heads so likely they won't be signing him.

would like to see the Isles throw an offer at stamkos if he doesn't sign with tampa.

we have the cap space (more if we move halak and if grabovski goes on ltir next season)

Seems he don't feel rushed cause those two team are not really near cup contenders right now.

I think Buffalo has about the same chance as Toronto in this one. A 2 hour drive from his hometown, with a team a year or two ahead of Toronto in it's rebuild.
I've been 50/50 at best in my desire for him to play in TO, mostly because of were we are at with our own rebuild. If TO were as far along as Buffalo, I'd be all over it.

Aren't u the same guy that said Babcock was going to Buffalo for sure? U got that one right just like u will get this one right. The guy is going home to Toronto so don't female dog about it later and u will have another reason for bashing the Leafs

I'm Macedonian, Stamkos attends our church in Toronto when visiting family.
I'm not convinced he leaves Tampa as hes a natural leader, and may not want to let his teammates down.. but on the other hand, his childhood dream with the coach that he really likes, and to have an opportunity of god-like status, with his many fans including his Macedonian family and fans, its just too much of a story book ending that I cant ignore.
