Expansion draft will show a huge turnover in goalies. I don't see Ullmark between the pipes for Buffalo. Unfortunate for him..

New potential rules.

First- and second-year pros -- including those playing pro hockey at any level -- will be exempt from the expansion draft. But if they're entering their third year of pro hockey, they're no longer exempt. Teams would have to either protect them or expose them.

You're going to see many players traded and draft picks moved with these deals based on not selecting certain exposed players.

Yep but like in years past you'll see teams send multiple players and picks to the new teams with the basis that they promise not to select certain players.

These things feel so hard to predict. When i saw Makarov in rookie camp a few years ago, i thought he was a sure-fire starter. The CBC guys said the same thing during a preseason game against Toronto. Now it looks like he's KHL bound.

He and Kasdorf will fight it out.

Exactly and these expansion teams will take some teams to the cleaners on deals like that. I bet the expansion teams will take as many goalies as they can and run the market on goalie deals.

We just sharpen them up a bunch of sticks and ship them out the door. Once in a while they come back with something to eat.

But he has only one year in the NHL... Right?

And if they're entering there 3rd year they have to be protected? That doesn't make sense because I've heard from multiple people if expansion happens next offseason Samson and Jack are Exempt

Basically the rules state if a player was a rookie pro in the ahl or nhl this year they are eligible for the draft

Pro Hockey at any level is the key phrase.

NHL
AHL
KHL
SEL

and any of the other European leagues are Pro Hockey leagues.

If 2017 is the expansion then he'll be going into his 3rd pro season in NA and thus isn't exempt.
