Not sure the Blues would want to take on an extra $3.5M of Nash's contract in a straight up Nash for Shatty deal. Who else do we get in that deal? - Fenrir

Shatty and Steen for Nash? Don't think the Blues do that deal

Shatty and Steen for Nash? Don't think the Blues do that deal - Fenrir
I didn't go into full detail just the main names, I think taking back salary would ultimately be a chip for us, they have kids like Fabbri and Barbashev that are the future, Steen is 32
Even though McD's contract is very fair considering his role, its still a large chunk of cash that can be repurposed. The return will be substantial, and as we've seen in the NHL lately, having a "C" doesn't make you safe.
My biggest issue w/ this team is I don't really sense a "leader." Over the past few years it was Cally and MSL.
As far as keeping Skjei, I don't think NYR wants to ship out any young players any more.
Like Brooks, I don't have a problem w/ anyone getting traded, if the return is good.

Didn't realize Steen was that old. So we are "renting" 2 players for next year. Try to extend Shatty, and maybe another year for Steen depending on his play.

As Shania Twain once said, "shatty don't impress me much", he looked pretty bad at times vs San Jose. I saw most of that series, and he has whipping boy written all over him if he came here
With that said, I would've and still would bang Shania Twain
The Blues are cheap, and Nash's cap hit is $7.8M with his actual pay being slightly higher. I don't think they move on that unless the asking price is very low or the Rangers take back salary, which defeats the purpose.
I could actually see a trade around Nash for Kane out of Buffalo (other moving pieces involved obviously). New York would get some cap relief and upside, Buffalo would get guy who isnt a Richard and can play a good 2 way game with one of their young centers.
Toronto or Detroit if they can get Arizona to absorb Datsyuk's contract could be fits. Most Western Conference teams are tight on cap or on a budget so not that many good fits.

McD is on one of the best contracts in the league. If they did want to trade him, every single team would line up. I just dont know how the Rangers get better in any way shape or form by trading him, unless they are going to rebuild.

Only possible way I would even consider a McDonagh trade was if it was for a 1st line star.

I agree, but if an offer blows NYR away, than he will be dealt. Dont want him to go, but NYR has to entertain and consider all offers for all players
