+ a million thank you. We should be trying to move up in the draft before we even think about addint a 30+ player. I would seriously be questioning the direction of this team. we have our quota filled of players over 30 signed to 5 years.

From the other blog....

What is the compensation we would receive if another team offer sheeted palms at 6 years 5-6 mill? I think we match but I also think thats a nice haul of picks we would be getting as compensation. Plus what play off contention team can afford to make a move like that on a player like palms ? So if it isn't even a play off contention team then I might take the compensation depending on what it was and where it was coming from.

Said it before and I'll say it again. This team has no future without Cam Janssen.

I forgot about that whole new scouting staff ! I am pretty excited about that but as one poster said very impressed with last years picks especially speers I can't get over getting him in the third round.

$3,652,659-to-$5,478,986 a 1st and 3rd

$5,478,986-to-$7,305,316 a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd

Those picks have to be that teams original picks. Also, those pick would be for 2017 draft. I wouldn't mind it if it was the second option, but offer sheets don't happen often.

I doubt the Devils would let him go though.

I think they should also pick 1 or 2 goalies this year as well. Two guys that come to mind:

Denis Godla

it would be because we would only be getting a first for him since we paid a 2nd and third but depending on who that first turned out to be or where it was pegged to be selected it would be hard to not think about it but I ultimately he is to young for us to move for picks and what not he is what we need more of but high first round picks are attractive lol

I posted it because you brought it up. But the problem is that we wouldn't know if it was a high 1st because the pick would be 2017.

More goalie help is fine, but hopefully not in the first three rounds. Forwards, Forwards and more Forwards please!

I guess its harmless if they are later picks but personally I kind of think its foolish to waste higher end picks on goalies. Now that doesn't mean teams don't ever have to do it or that it doesn't work I just think its way easier to get proven tenders through trades and free agency. there are only 30 starting jobs and each year a new crop tries to push them out. Does anyone know if appleby had a good year this season ? I know he spent most of it in the ECHL so I don't know what to take from that but wedge played there for a while to so...

Yeh I understand why you posted it I honestly wasn't sure what the comp would be and if I had to guess I would imagine if a team where to do it, it would have to be a team not picked by many to make the play offs as most play off teams are in rough shape either prospect wise or cap wise or both lol.

My impression is he did nicely in the ECHL but struggled when they moved him up to Albany. I think he was called up due to injury. The way I remember it, he got shelled in his first few games and then settled in....

I think Vehvilainen would be a great pick up in the 3rd round. He played with men this year, his 1st in that league, and was very good.

Appleby was good based off his stats.

Blackwood and Appleby were good additions last year, but it's not a guarantee that Blackwood will make the NHL, not saying Vehvilainen will, but adding a kid who is 19 and has some experience in a professional league would go a long way.

And you said about trades, what exactly did trading for Schneider cost us again?

A top ten pick in a supposedly deep draft but he could of cost us more if we where the oilers lmao. Anywho I am not saying there is a schneider to be had every year via trade but I would take my chances exploring those routes before forking out firsts on goalies like the caps do lol it has worked nicely for them but still. I still kind of think we need to get meaner on the blue line. Santini will help but I am not as sure as I once was that he will just step in.
