I believe the simple answer is "NO!"

Columbus got such a good break moving up to third, they should take full advantage. They get a fantastic player there. Likely Puljujarvi.

I don't think there is any good reason to move unless they get a massive overpayment trade. Whatever the needs they can take Puljujarvi and make a trade later. Plus with that all around strong game, maybe Puljujarvi can make that center transition.

The media wants to have their fun, but I don't see anyone in the top 3 making a trade. Likely ends up very boring despite their efforts with 1. Matthews, 2. Laine, and 3. Puljujarvi.

I don't follow the Sabres, but it seems like Girgensons' stock has fallen quite a bit. Don't know a lot about Pysyk. The trade would only make sense if there's good reason to think that both Girgensons and Pysyk can turn into top 6 / top 4 players, otherwise the quantity doesn't make up for the drop-off in quality between Puljujarvi and whoever Columbus would take at #8.

You guys have been burned by Gaudreau enough to know that isn't happening.

So what you're telling me is Sean Monahan and Jhonny Gaudreau for 3rd pick?

Realistically, what kind of return would CBJ be looking for to unload Kerry Rachel? I don't follow them much, but thought I read he had a rough year? Would it be trading when value is low? Or play him for part of the year, hope he produces and then sell?

Columbus should keep the #3 pick, select Jesse Puljujarvi, and say "thank you" when they do it. He seems like a very good fit in Columbus, and it's rare to be able to add elite-level talent at any position.

Ya its stupid to trade down from how everyone is calling this draft. Key in the NHL is finding franchise guys that can be 1D or a forward that can drive a line. I think being a centerman is overrated. Guys like Ovechkin, Kane, even Kessel to a lesser extent are guys who make their lines work when plugged in with good but not necessarily elite guys.

You trade down only if you get a truckload back. That truckload needs to include an established high end center. Maybe Duchene or RNH. Other than that you make the pick.

This is all moot, the dispatch just said following the lottery that Jarmo has a hardy for those two fins and that he's scouted them countless times, not sure it's even in his thoughts to trade down.

yes because everything the Columbus Dispatch reports is correct.
