definitely fell off a bit down the stretch. but that's one of the sweetest cap hits the team has for sure.

really really curious to see if the team lines up much differently in the fall...

They will. They better. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Not full on rebuild, but a retool on the fly. I would like to see Mersch and Dowd get a shot at least.

How much cap flexibility do the Kings have?

It's not bad this year. It's next year when Toffoli and Pearson are due extensions that the Kings will have a problem.

Versteeg is gone. He's not getting re-signed. He was a rental that didn't fit in and ended up playing on the 4th line for most of his Kings tenure. That's not something we want to throw money at.

Lewis's extension is probably capped at $2M, otherwise he's gone too.

Lucic and McNabb are really the only players that will likely be re-signed this off-season, and they'lll get around $6M and $1.25M, respectively. That still leaves us nearly $4M to work with to fill in the gaps.

I agree that you can waive goodbye to Lewis and Versteeg if Lucic is signed. The rest of the players will be AHL guys with subpar 1 million dollar salaries. Looking forward to some new energy with some AHL guys next year.

Andreoff, Nolan and Clifford are redundant. At least one has to go. My pick would be Nolan.
