Thomas Gidlow: Reimer, Johnson, Ward? Carolina Hurricanes Offseason Outlook (Part 2 of 4)

Watching Chad Johnson last year in blue and gold, I can honestly say that splitting time with Lack would be a really good combo for a rebuilding (and/or possibly relocating) Canes. There's no way Carolina throws another 6.5 million Cam Ward's way, or any club for that matter. Is it best for maybe a "tear it down and start again" year or two? Maybe. Time will tell

After watching Dallas - St.Louis I believe Dallas comes out of nowhere and gets Riemer, he would be a huge upgrade for those guys.

Yikes, I'll take option #4...trade for a REAL goalie... either Ana. Goalie, or Bishop, or Elliott!

I'm okay with platooning Johnson or Reimer with Lack, but a trade would be preferable.

What's the asking price?

This s/b a no-brainer... the Canes have the cap space and assets/ picks that will make the needed trade possible, so go get that topnotch goalie! And 1 or 2 F additions will put this team in the PLAYOFFS!

I think, and just personal opinion here, is that we'd like to groom the next long-term goalie. Alex Nedeljkovic seems to be the logical choice for the future, so I'm not sure of the value of investing long term or tradeable assets in a goalie through the next 2-3 years.

That may be the plan, but you can't throw a season away while waiting for a POSSIBLE development of any player... bird in hand better than two in the bush!
