Wouldn't mind seeing Girardi get one more shot at it. If he struggles again this year though I think he's done. D is a fair grade for him.
It was brought up in the last blog about Brouwer for 4 million a year, he's had a good postseason but his prior 78 playoff games?? A whopping 7 goals and a whopping 12 assists.

One guy who I would actually love to sign is Steve Ott. Tough, physical center who wins draws and can kill penalties. He works extremely hard as well. Would love Martin too from the Isles. Roll a fourth line of Martin-Ott-Stalberg.

Wouldn't mind ott on the 4th line with Stewart and Stalberg. Tough physical 4th line. The reason I say Stewart over Ott is Martin will want to much $ but he will get it from someone unless Boomer can talk him into taking less to play for us. Stewart Helm Stalberg would be nice also but unfortunately I think Glass is guaranteed a spot on that line.

That is downright pathetic if out of all these players on this team it seems like aside from Hank and McD that Glass has a guaranteed roster spot? Guy is a bowling ball with no hands

Steve Ott is playing his balls off right now, but he is 34 in August and has 3 goals his last 120 or so games. I don't think the Rangers would have interest.

They need some younger legs with energy on the 4th line.

Yup - might as well give him a shot on the second pair, see if he can round back into form. If not, throw him on the third pair - he should at least be competitive there. Plus he has a full NMC next year, so might as well use him. Then, based on how he performs next year, make the call then.

The priority this off-season should be to move Staal.

Personally, I think a long off-season will do wonders for this team; especially the likes of Staal, Girardi, McD, and Hank. The Rangers have played probably the most hockey out of all teams the past 3 to 4 seasons.

Addition by subtraction with Boyle and Yandle gone. Yandle can move the puck, but he is very poor in his own zone; and that's what everyone is complaining about with the D this past season.

McD/Girardi
Staal/ Klein
Skjei/McI

I am perfectly fine with that on the Rangers blue line.

Disappointed, yes, but they still did a 100+ point season again.

AV definitely seems to like Hrivik and obviously he likes Fast, although Fast would probably be 3rd line at worst for AV

I really like the idea of system filled 4th line. The more I see UFAs signed for our 4th line the more you realize that money could be more well spent, i.e. Glass, Moore, Stalberg. That money adds up. Keep it cheap with the likes of Hrivik, Fast, Lindberg (healthy).

Agree 100% here. Spending too much on 4th line players will surely hurt you elsewhere where you need the $$$ to spend.

definitely, a cheap 4th line, young, that brings energy. Gotta keep the costs down on the bottom 6 forwards

I think Jensen will get a good look. He lit it up in Hartford, and is playing well in the Worlds albeit for Denmark.

Hrvik has been around for past 2-3 seasons. 4th liner at best, but he seeems to be one of those AHL career guys

C for Girardi, that's being generous. I do think the man was injured even worse than we knew, then the head shot he took at the end of the yr just finished him off. With the extra rest this off season & possibly lessened responsibility Danny can bounce back. I hope so, cause I really don't see a buyout.
