This should get some angst going...

Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun:

"The Oilers will likely trade down in the draft from their current No. 4 slot."

The Canucks should trade Edler to the Oilers for #4 and re-sign Hammer for a couple years.

Lefty, I can't quote you

but

I 100% would make that trade. I don't know if Edler is worth a 4th overall but I would make that trade in a heartbeat.

I liked the proposal from last night with Barrie.

Would not be horrible having Tanev Barrie Tryamkin and Larsen on the right side.

With the number 10 pick if Brown was not available you could get a Dman.

It would be interesting to see how busted up RNH would get in a playoff game.

Edler wouldn't accept a trade, just having a bit of fun, plus he's the Cauncks best dman...sadly.

Also bringing back players like Hamhuis Burrows and Higgins is not rebuilding. It is more like stagnating.

Might have to wait until he becomes a Canuck to find out

I have never been a fan of his, but I usually notice him when we play the Oilers. He appears to be filling out a bit, I'd prefer a heavier centre for our top line but wouldn't be upset if we acquired him. (depending on what we gave up of course)

Edler + McCann for RNH + 1st.

Ryan Nugget-Hopkins is only 23 years old, just turned a few weeks ago, he's a good player, but I'd rather keep Edler and McCann.

Gotta keep in mind they badly need a second first round pick IMO and build towards the future. Not saying I want to re-sign Hamhuis but a two year stop-gap while they rebuild and gather youth is not the worst thing.

They shouldn't be worried about competing for the next few years, they should be doing their damndest to collect some top end picks.

Sexy!

But they need to prevent goals more than they need to score them.

It's the team that scores the most goals that wins, not the team that allows the least amount of goals.

(fix the defence) - until they allow ~40 less goals it doesn't matter how many they score, they won't make the playoffs...see Ottawa, Boston.

I don't care about playoffs. I want to see goals. Defense will fix itself.

"Benning said the 2nd pick they got as compensation from CLB is in play - its likely a 2018 pick. Hoping to use it to sweeten a D trade deal."
