Because assets like Eberle and Yakupov won't need to be replaced in said deals for established defensemen? Whine a little more about not winning something.

Adding another prospect at no cost is a no brainer. It adds depth on the farm and gives you more options should he pan out and become an NHL player. The Oilers will be spending more money on an improved D and will have to shed salary down the road when Draisaitl and McDavid get paid.
