I'm obviously not a Habs fan, but I was surprised that he kept his job throughout the season, but even more so that Bergevin is sticking with him to start next year...I get that Price was a huge loss, but this team had way too much talent to not a)be in the playoffs or b)not even be close to the playoffs. He made many questionable decision on how he handled your stars and the team as a whole...I'm sure the leash will be short.

You could put a mop in a suit behind the bench and it could have done a better job. Therrien is an utter fool, and the only one who's a bigger fool is MB for supporting this disaster. But that's what happens when you hand out extensions far too early and put your selfish pride ahead of everything.

No vision, no plan (the Carey Price plan), no chance.....

I agree with everything in this blog post. And also, you could add that Therrien and his coaching team can't devise a functional powerplay tactic to save themselves. In no particular order :

What's with the endless cycling around the zone?
Why are Subban and Markov switched up and need to constantly switch back to get to their right side to shoot?
Why does Subban always shoot glued to the blue line instead of advancing near the circles to unleash his one-timers?
Why does nobody ever try a cross-crease pass?
Why does Pacioretty was used for nearly all season on the right wall while he have a pretty bad one-timer, and not in the middle when he can use his killer snap shot?
Why did nobody thought to include Galchenyuk in the first wave before the quasi-end of the season?
Why did Desharnais got so much powerplay time when among all players in the NHL that have received over 100 minutes of ice time on the power play this season, Desharnais ranks 184th out of 189 in points?

Those problems have been recurring for more than 2 season now, for f*sake.

I'm not even talking about all the dump and chase and the endless clearing attempts along the boards that become icings. This coaching team is soo bad at Xs and Os.

Honestly I think he and the GM need to go before Montreal can really push forward as a team. Injuries played a big part but only because the GM was utterly foolish and useless and didn't ensure they were covered and had enough depth. What they did have was not at all used correctly by the coach. When they are all aligned with one another, have to think after what happened the owner would step in and make some changes but nope. No way either coach or GM gets a pass there at all!
