Hi Bill!
In the previous thread, there was some discussion this morning about Winnipeg possibly being willing to move Trouba. With that in mind, would you make the following trade:
To Philly: Trouba
To Wpg: 2016 1st, 2016 2nd (originally Chicago's pick), Laughton and Hagg.

Bill - great blog as always. And "as being sort of middle-class man's Simon Gagne at Gagne's Flyers peak" is a great analogy to use on a Flyers blog! |

If they re-ran the 2015 draft today where does everyone think Myers would get picked? 2nd Rd? 1st Rd? |

Probably late first round. Craig Button touched on that a few months back. Really think the Flyers found a gem thanks to Myers having some injuries and illnesses last season.

The Jets would want Ghost or Provorov for Trouba. Morrissey is their only decent LHD prospect. |

Only issue with the Trouba thing is his RFA status and the massive contract he and his agent requested in WPG. 8 years 8m or something like that. He's a good young defenseman but he's not 8m good at this point. The possibility of a bridge deal is definitely there but do we want to risk it? Moving Laughton further depletes our forward depth specifically at C and LW which are our two biggest areas of need up front. |

Yeah but remember the stories of what Hamilton wanted out of Boston and then when resigned people were shocked because Boston made it sound like he wanted something big.
I wonder if it could be something like that. Maybe he either wants to get paid in WPG or would rather be in another market.

I don't think anyone can downplay how huge a signing like Lou Eriksson or a Steven Stamkos would be by comparing one of these guys to our own. Both would be titanic upgrades at each position that they play. Second line center and anywhere on the left side would help at the high level these two play. - SuperSchennBros
Out of the A-list FAs (guess you can call them that) Eriksson is the one I am most comfortable with signing. Especially for the 30 or over group. Think we could also move on from Read even more so if we managed to sign him. |

Well....would you want to live in Winnipeg, especially after living in the US (albeit the northern part) all of your life? Howard Berger once said that Winnipeg was the only place where his mustache actually froze. |

What do you think the odds are of 5 of those guys becoming top-6 defenseman is? Also, how many of them do you think will become a better all-situations defenseeman than Trouba? And lastly, how many of them can impact a game like he can within 2 years in all situations?
I'm not saying Trouba is the answer, simply that a proven yet young player like him is probably better short and near future term than an NHL unknown...but I wouldn't deal Provorov or Ghost for him. |

I think I am all in on moving that first for a young RFA like Trouba. That seems like the best plan over a question mark at drafting 18 in what seems like a weaker draft in regards to impact players.
