I think in any evaluation of Trouba for the past season, it should be pointed out that when not with Stuart, he often played LD, which required some adaptation on his part. |

That's a fair point. He didn't seem to mind but it matters a bit IMO. Thanks |

Trouba definitely took a step back this year. I hope he gets a bridge deal and the chance to show he can take the next step. Scheif made big strides this year and hopefully both continue to improve.
As to Stuart, he is apparently great in the room, wears the A, blocks shots and will fight anyone anytime regardless of the outcome. However, based on skill level alone he just doesn't fit in for the Jets to take the next step. I would like him stick around as the 7th D-man and still be around the team, dressing a few games here and there. Give the younger guys more ice time or trade for a more capable veteran presence.
I agree with the grades! |

You should trade Trouba... To Toronto... For Gardiner |

Hey Peter,
What it would take for the Jets to get the 3rd overall in this years draft?
Would a package of Nik Petan, Jack Roslovic and the 22nd overall be enough? I think it would be pretty cool drafting both Fins.

Not even close!!!!!!
To get that 3, you will have to give up something that will hurt.
P.S. Congrats on #2!!! So happy it went to you guys.... |

I'd go further than a bridge deal for Troubs - lock him up ... the kid's best years are ahead of him ... he already carries a large load
Stuart ... oh vey ... every time he steps on the ice, it causes me pain ... his best years (?) are behind him ... we need to get him off the roster in one of two ways:
1. trade him in a bundle for _____ fill in the blank
2. let him mentor the young guys on the Moose
Maybe the best is #2 ... he's a character guy with the right attitude ... his girlfriend/wife is part of the True North organization ... he's done right by the city of Winnipeg - an asset to the community
He used to be the shot blocking king ... it's time |

What about the same type of deal for a guy like Cam Fowler? |

No thanks. Kadri is a legend in his own mind. His only. |

[quote=Peter.Tessier]Sure, why not?
I can't tell what the chart is indicating. In my own opinion Gardiner's hockey sense is questionable at times. I also think these two players play a different style. |

Stewart is done! Can be 7th d no more , as for Trouba needs to sign a bridge deal or move him! I also like the idea of landing both Fins and maybe adding a D man in free agency. |

Stuart is by all accounts a solid leader and an overall awesome man. He is apparently very intelligent and a bookworm.
I think TNSE would be smart to make him Captain of the Moose. Pay him his NHL money to lead the farm team, hell they paid Budaj a million bucks to sit on the Moose bench. If Stu is interested, start talking to him about developing coaching opportunities or a position somewhere in the organization.
I think this would be a win win for everyone, and save the man the embarrassment of being waived/kicked to the curb after years of loyal service. Sends the right message to the rest of the Jets too. |

ask yourself what would we want for the 2nd overall. I bet you list a better package from Columbus coming to us than what you offered. I think top 3 draft picks value is never higher than right before the draft. To even get their attention you would have to mention at least one of Sheif, Ehlers, Connor or Trouba and still because of how high the cost right now would be, one of those players would only be the start of the package. Not worth it for either team to make an offer for either pick. It's a nice thought though, one I'm sure the Finnish GM of Collumbus has also dreamed about

Let Stewart play for the Moose, will be like having a coach on the ice. He can only help a yound developing group of prospects.
My guess is he will become an organization guy (along with Thorburn) and there is nothing wrong with that at all, its a good thing for others to see.

We don't need a 3rd line center, that badly.

I wonder- that would be two non-NHL players and a pick so no sure thing. Is Puljarjvi that good? I think it would have to be a roster player.
Think about this- Leafs shock everyone and take Laine. Jets are stunned and have 15 minutes to make a pick or a deal. So they take Mathews and Chevy is working the phones and table furiously with CBJ JArmo wants a Finn but also needs competitive roster so he Chevy strike a deal:
Bryan Little, 22nd and a prospect plus Lowry or Burmi- do you do it to get Mathews and Puljarjvi? I can't see the Jets moving anything unless Leafs do something different. |
|
|
|
Unless Laine has a brilliant tourney and Matthews stinks it up, I can't imagine the Leafs passing on Matthews....too much fan and media pressure....plus they really do need a big center.
I can't foresee a trade with CBJ. Our big bargaining chip would be Trouba and they aren't in dire need of a d-man. The Oilers would be a different story.
Maybe trade Trouba for Oilers pick (although it won't likely get us Jesse P.) and then trade the Chicago pick to Islanders for Hamonic.
We wind up with Laine, Juolevi or Chychrun, and Hamonic.
