Here's hoping for a Caps/Blues final... with Ovechkin lifting the cup!

Actually, I'd be okay with either the Blues or Preds in the finals against the Caps... and OVi lifting the cup.

There's some terrific hockey players to be had throughout the NHL Draft, you've just gotta have the right people in place to find them, I'm hoping Jim Benning is that guy.

With any luck at all, and there's a lot of luck involved with drafting, they'll get the first overall pick and draft their next franchise centerman.

Hopefully Mr. Benning can find our franchise defenseman somewhere in the late first or second round and beyond.

To Vantel from last blog.
Grit is something the team has been lacking since trading away guys like torres, glass, kesler. McGinn could bring that. Don't necessarily need a "bigger" player to do that just a player who brings a tougher game. JV has the tools in the top 6. I don't really view any of Vans prospects as players like that either. Add in McGinn for 3rd line duties and Martin for 4th line would give the team some more grit.

i wanna see OVI get the same number of cups to date as the NHLs pet crosby... maybe then the NHL might consider a non-north american to be the face of the league for a change...

Maybe Ovi wins the cup and then leads Russia to a World Cup title as well...

Even though I think OvenChicken is a massive tool and would be totally ok with that goof never touching the Cup I think it's his and WAS cup to lose. I do have WAS to win in 7 over SJ in the final for my bracket challenge at work so let's go OvenChicken!! Lol

The Utica deal is for six years, but I thought I recalled that there was an opt out after three years. Utica is hurting the Canucks and they need to get the team moved out West ASAP.

How are they hurting the Canucks? Correct me if I am wrong but I believe we have full control over the team like who coaches and who plays. Unlike when we had the Chicago Wolves, that hurt the Canucks prospects.

@ Don.

Hey if you weren't picking top 3 what do you think about going after Logan Brown

59 games 21 goals 54 assist 6'6 Centre. I know you have been keeping an eye on him lately. I think I would want him before Tkachuk

Ya, i dunno about 'hurting' the team, but i think the distance is an issue.
It would be pretty cool to have the farm team in the lower mainland somewhere, obviously making callups easier, but also allowing fans a chance to see the prospects firsthand.

During our initial 'honeymoon' phase, Sheneequa (my ex-latex companion for those not in the know) regularly squeeled above the 140 db range during acts of intimacy . And yes, I know you absolutely needed to know that (incidentally, tell-all book forthcoming in the Fall - pre order now and you'll get a life-sized autographed cardboard cut-out of Vantel in a Kesler jersey twerking)

I always looked at our team and the Sharks as in the same light. We often seem to be very close in similarity . Happy to see them win a round.

I thought we battled them well this year . I think the big difference of them and us is Bent Burns. I think if we weren't struck with so many injuries we could have been in the mix. ( RC made a very good point of the training staff yesterday).

I think a smart draft , a healthy year and a good trade and pick up and we will be back in there too. We do need a new look D , and Benning has added 3 pieces in the last month.
