Caps in 7. Once Wilson and the other dirtbags get a hold of the Pens skill players they won't have the strength/health/energy to finish the series.

Refs will decide this series. If they call it correctly, pens have the advantage. If they "let them play" and let the caps get away with garbage, caps win.

Think the Rangers tried that. Dismantled in 5. Sorry but this isn't a team that just folds when teams get physical. They take hits to make plays and get up and go chase the puck. Caps are a great team and may win this series (I personally think the Pens take it in 5, but I'm a homer) but I don't think it will have anything to do with Wilson or the over use of physicality.

Over/under on headlocks Orpik puts Hornqvist in right in front of Holtby? Assuming Orpik plays

Good luck to anyone/everyone trying to predict this series, personally I'm going to sit back with no preconceived notions and just enjoy what should be the best series of the 2016 playoffs. The real shame is that it's only the 2nd round and we've been robbed of seeing this as the ECF matchup.

Agreed jaydogg. The current playoff format is beyond a joke. Caps and Pens finished with the most/2nd most points in the entire eastern conference, yet one of them is going to be gone after this series. Meanwhile the mediocre Islanders and Lightning are guaranteed to have one in the ECF. Let's go back to eff divisions, 1 plays 8, 2 plays 7, 3 plays 6, 4 plays 5. Based on your standings in the Eastern conference, not uneven divisions.

The fairest way to do it would be to forget conferences and just have 1 play 16, 2 play 15 etc. That way the regular season means something, and good teams will be rewarded with easier matchups, but I understand this would create a much tougher travel schedule.

Bettman is a joke.

agreed I favor the Pens as the hotter team. Quality of the series will be whether Caps can kick their game up a gear now that they are facing their first real challenge in months.

And Wilson as well as the other dirtbags more than likely will be in the penalty box more times than not. They will make glaring mistakes which will cost their team.

Exactly, it work decently in 2 games in which the rangers only won one in the series. Attempting to be overly physical is exactly what the Penguins want. Their speed is much too overwhelming for teams to try and finish every check and it completely exhausts opponents. Connor Sheary was on Mark Maddens show, i think monday, and it seemed like he enjoyed when teams try and check him. He described how he tries to use their momentum to propel himself to high speeds quicker then he could usually. Physicality is just not the way to beat the Pens adn I hope the Caps find out the hard way

Rangers played poorly from Hank on out.

I say Caps. Better goalie, better discipline and defensive structure. Assassins on the PP.

Then again the Penguins PP is scary too. Should be a good series.

An x-factor is that Orpik and Niskanen played with crosby /Malkin for alot of years and should know how to handle them.

Wilson is one of the biggest scumbags in the game. Hope he blows out his knee while trying to injure someone. He usually tries to injure someone at least once a game.

Orpik has slowed down significantly and occasionally loses his assignment trying to throw big hits. Nisky on the other hand is a heck of a player. Shame we lost him.

I agree that it should be conference 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, etc...
Like you, I don't agree with inter-conference play right off the bat in the playoffs; meaning 1 vs 16, 2 vs 15, etc... as they would need to add days for travelling depending who plays who and the season + playoffs are long enough already... Just make the damn conferences an equal number of teams and no stupidity of winning a division guarantees home advantage for at least the 1st round...if the 5 teams in one division are better than the best team in the other division, well so be it = 1 vs 8, no exception!

This.

Washington's defensive structure and penalty killing department are significantly better than the Penguins last opponent. And let's call it like it is, Lundqvist hasn't been this bad, in a playoff series, since his first against Jersey in 2006. Holtby is on his game, has been all season, it won't be so easy for Pittsburgh to score this round.

Having said that, Penguins in seven, if Murray continues to remain poised.
