Anaheim being eliminated means that the Sabres trade of McGinn to the Ducks results in a 3rd round pick coming back to Buffalo this year in the 2016 draft. Had the Ducks advanced to the Western Conference Finals, Buffalo would have received Anaheim's 2nd round pick next year (2017).
To be honest, on the surface this looks like the Sabres got the lesser of the two options in this deal. However, with the Ducks being knocked out in Round 1 and this year's draft much deeper than next year's draft is expected to be... I have to say the Sabres at least broke even on this one. Not to mention, Murray seems like he is itching to make some trades and extra picks in the current year tend to help make that happen (vs future picks). |

Does one tweet actually state the the Sabres would have had a 2nd if the Ducks went to the ECF? How could that have been possible? Bad trade condition or typical bad proofreading? |

Im just sad . Bruce is a good coach but his playoff record is a 500 pound gorilla that thats wieghing on the whole team . He'd be wise to take a year or 2 off to let this thing blow over . To compare look at the preds . They fire barry trotz a good coach and get peter lavolette . Its given them a new start . One that they desperatly needed . |

Look, all well deserved and such but how can everyone say the tactics of Nashville in the last game 'worked'? Very fluky first goal, decent deflection as the second goal but after that it was ALL Anaheim, including a 101% chance for McGinn and another puck on the post. |
