Carol Schram: Vancouver Canucks Sign C Markus Granlund, Utica Comets Extend Season in OT
The Vancouver Canucks took care of another piece of business on Tuesday, signing Markus Granlund to a two-year contract extension, while the Utica Comets extended their season with a 2-1 overtime win over the Albany Devils in Game 3 for their first-round AHL playoff series.
Its a tough call on 1st overall. I think whether you are picking 1st or 2nd you are getting a 1st overall pick. If we won the lotto and JB picked Laine I wouldn't be upset at all.

Feels similar to the year that Hall went 1st overall and Seguin went 2nd.
i'd be thrilled if we got 2nd overall pick.

JB has to go with Matthews for first overall. Nux need someone to replace Hank as the 1st line centre in 3 years time, when Hank can be safely moved down to 3rd line center.

yes. i think everyone agrees with this and has been discussed a million times.
Surely there would be some trades and that would not be our Centre lineup in 3 years time.

Can't wait for the lottery and then the draft. I was wondering if Edmonton won the first pick if they would take Laine or if they got the 4th or 5th pick if they would draft a dman?
Everything could pan out as most predict with clubs going with the consensus bpa but I'm hoping for a few surprises.

Right now the only reason I would take Mathews over Laine right now is the fact that he is a center.
Let's go Nashville and #92 Ryan Johansen! Hope Canucks get second pick in lottery, wow that would be amazing. Also a little off topic but I can't wait to see Jordan Subban get his shot to run the Canucks powerplay one day soon. I know he is small but his day is coming to Vancouver within two years. Ovechkin, your going down!

Given their damn luck, I am glad there is more talk of Laine possibly going 1st so Edmonton can go for him. I have a good feeling about Vancouver's chances though, I would be extremely happy with Matthews, the team needs a star at center aside from Henrik its been way too long
Thanks Carol.
So far I only got TBL wrong. Hoping Ducks win and I go 7/8.
With the recent rise in Laine's stock, I am hoping Leafs win 1oA and we get 2nd. Leafs and Sens are the only teams I see needing a first line C that is young. I think Lain is in the same category as Ovie. If if he is anywhere near that then we already have a Backstrom in Bo.

It is starting to get that vibe and I wonder whether anyone would change how that one went. Hall is definitely a great winger, one of the best in the game, but Seguin has versatility to play C and W and along with a very high skillset. In both that year and this current one, I hope for the C, though neither seem like bad picks
