I guess what I'm wondering now is what prevented the Caps from scoring on the PP while playing Philly? It wasn't just the goalie, was it?

That's why I think Pens in 6... Keep #8 neutralized and they will win...

You serious? Caps destroyed them. I believe they were 8 for 27 in series and 8 for 20 after 3 games if I recall correctly.

I have a bad feeling ovi is going to be a monster this series. The 09 series is talked about every single time they've played against each other since then and ovi and the caps will be coming out looking to make a statement. I hope the pens are prepared for it and counter with their speed and forecheck. Don't let ovi get comfortable

One game they had 5 though. I think after that they didn't have another one. I could be wrong

First 3 games of series Wash PP was dominant, especially games 2 and 3.
Game 1 1 for 6
Game 2 2 for 2
Game 3 5 for 9 lol.
Then they did nothing rest of series
Game 4 0 for 2
Game 5 0 for 3
Game 5 0 for 5
Hopefully Pens can keep that 0fer going

Not in the last three games. Did you watch those? They could not score on PP.

The last few games Philly kind of took a page out of the Pens book. Tried to take time and space away from Washington. It worked and kept the score down. Unfortunately for the Flyers, they couldn't score. Their stars were awful.

I know it's not groundbreaking stuff here, but using speed and tight checking is the key to taking them out. Just like the Rangers, Washington isn't nearly as fast as the Pens.

You're right, they couldn't in final three games, which I posted already. Wasn't trying to come at you, was just saying Wash PP was overall very good. They took a 3 0 series lead off of an 8 for 17 PP. It got shut down and Philly won 2 out of 3 games.

I have a good feeling that OV is going to be a monster this series, and so will Sid. If we're lucky we will be treated to a series as epic as the last time we met in the second round!
The Pens know what they have to do to beat the Caps, the exact same thing they did to beat the Rags. The Caps are going to try to turn this into a physical series, if we maintain our composure and "Play the Right Way" we will get in their heads. Someone on the Pens is going to get run, its just going to happen we are just going to have to deal with it. Our PP and PK absolutely have to execute like they did last series.

Our PK is very good. We're a top unit in the league. Hagelin might be the best PKer I've ever witnessed execute the art. Can't underestimate the effect of not only breaking up their scoring chances, but also turning around and generating some offense of our own short handed and pestering the PP unit in their own zone. It gets in heads.

Yup thats it. Relentless speed and puck pressure without the puck. Dump or chip and retrieve with speed. Smart sticks. Keep composure.

First 3 games Flyers PKers sat back in a passive box, shot blocking.
Was a very bad plan and they got destroyed.
Games 4-6 they pressured Backstrom and Carlson which worked very well.
OV still got some good looks, but either missed the net, hit a few posts or Neuvirth was there.

Pens PK has quicker players then the Flyers. I think pressuring Backstrom is the key.
If he has time he can kill you. Marcus Johannsen had a very good series for them. Underrated player.

I think this Caps team has a lot more than Ove who can score.

Plenty more than OV, no way Kuznetzov is held to one point in this series, Backstrom can snipe. They get goals from all 4 lines, just like us.

This is the type of series that everyone wants to see, ad no one is confident in predicting.

Caps are loaded, Pens are firing on all all lines. Best case scenario, Caps get overly aggressive running guys.

Philly showed what a pressure PK will do and that's what the Pens have. Time will tell, def think the winner gets to the finals where another beast awaits.

Good times.

Can't wait for this series.

Pens pk needs to play a tight box and not chase this series. Man up and block shots. I would like to know how many Ovi onetimers were blocked by Adams in 09. Very well could be the difference ib that entire series.

Sid, Ovi, And Geno all showed last time these teams met in a series. I expect the same again. It's no secret what both teams will try and do. I can't wait to watch it. LGP

don't kill the hands that pulls the trigger. kill the head that gives the oppertunity. in other words take care of backström and carlson and the great 8 can do almost nothing
