I wanted this done a couple days ago, but the week unfolded in ways I didnt plan for. Sorry about the delay.

I believe you're going to see Chiarelli's real worth this summer now that he's had time to evaluate the young core of the team.

So I actually went through the blog because I wanted to see if you would be objective...and you weren't.

You conveniently blame PC for getting bad advise for bad moves yet give him all the credit for the good.

1) the Oilers were well into the interview process with McLellan before PC was brought on. And you mention Bob Nicholson getting rid of Mact but that was not the plan. They originally only offered him the President role and it was Lowe that went to Nicholson and suggested it. Mact was to stay as GM until PC said he'd only come on in a dual role. Mact was already deep in talks with Todd at that point. PC came in and finalized it. I like TM and hope for better things to come.

2) the draft was awful. PC and his burnt bridge in Boston cost the Oilers Hamilton and we got worked big time on the Reinhart trade.

3) you're blaming Mact again for trading Marincin when it had nothing to do with him. Typical. Gryba was a PC type. He wasn't an upgrade but bigger and far more physical.

4) Sekera was a good sign. Too much term and NTC clauses but over all a good pick up.

5) Boyd Gordon for Korpikoski is a fail.

6) Maroon trade looks good now. But will he be able to continue? He fell off with Getz and Perry when he started out great there too.

7) Kassian is meh. Big and physical yet still takes a lot of really stupid penalties.

8) you left out Talbot because again...according to Sather it was a Mact deal he was honoring. That was by far the biggest improvement on the Oilers this season.


I'm happy to have PC but he's running out of time. He has far more assets to work with than any of his predecessors and we still stink. And people are still using the old excuse that people are taking advantage and trying to rob the Oilers of their players knowing they are desperate. Nothing new. Pc has said this.

So far his over all grade is a D+

Once again...I have no candle for Mact. I'll blame him for bad moves and give him credit for good. Just like everyone else. But the way you and others scapegoat him and others blaming him for everything that goes wrong is pathetic. Even to this day you say he's giving bad advise behind the scenes.

Still hoping there's a deal to be made between the Wild and Oilers. One of Dumba/Brodin for RNH would be a win for both clubs.

I can only write about the truth. I don't get to invent one that makes Craig MacTavish less negatively impactful to the team. There's a reason he wasn't at the Rexall goodbye. It's not because they needed him scouting.

The problems facing the Oilers right now are the same ones they faced last summer, yet Peter did nothing. All the Hockey Media last summer said the Oilers had to break up the core and trade something significant for a blueliner.

They didn't have to pay the bucks for Peter for him to do nothing. This team is quite the embarrassment.

So at the beginning of the year if you were told you would finish one point out of last place you would have been happy?? With all the top draft picks you have playing on that team don't you expect something better?

I will be very easy for Peter to please you folks if your happy with those results. Maybe next year you can finish third from last with two more wins.

Was I not clear that he completely failed to address the defense and if he neglects it again there is no positivity at all?

The year wasn't good enough, even with gains in specific areas.

You wrote about the goaltending woes over the last couple years saying the Oilers with league average goaltending would be much higher in the standing. Don't recall if you said playoffs with it or not but we got league average goaltending this year for the most part. We still stunk.

And don't give me the we were in more games because I've already shown we lost as many one goal games last year as this year ( when you include games where empty netters were scored in dying minutes).

And for the record, PC wanted to wait a year to evaluate the team before making any big moves to that he wouldn't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

I'm very disappointed with how the seasons gone too, but the Oilers led the league in man games lost, all of which were to impact players

Excuses. We lost a lot of games last year too. This year a bit more but still good teams overcome these issues.

The blues lost significant players this year.

Tampa bay.

They still win.
