You're going to think I'm lying or hopped on the bandwagon, but it doesn't matter to me, I'm a Leicester City fan.

First ever non World Cup game I watched was Leicester City vs New Castle United last year when they were on the verge of being relegated. I bet on Leicester for absolutely no reason other than to get into the sport by rooting for an underdog. I loved the attack they had as it took me a while to grow into the defensive style of the game. My motto was root for Leicester to not get relegated and root for Arsenal to win (Idk why I picked them, the more I watch, the more I can't stand them).

So Leicester plays Arsenal in the first 5 or so games - maybe 10? - and I said well, I have to choose where the ultimate allegiance lies. Picked Leicester and they lost 5-2

I said well, I've made my bed now I can lay in it. Best choice I've ever made.

It's nice to see that Nikita Zaitsev is a right shooting defender. If he's as good as many say, he slips right in, beside Morgan Rielly, on the first defensive pairing.

In regards to size, yes, we do need that. I'm hoping that they package up some of our secondary young players, like Lipsic and or Kapanen, to either move up in the draft, or get us a young goaltender, to upgrade our goaltending. We have an oversupply of young wingers, with talent. Keep the best and repackage the rest and fill some holes. We have lots of draft picks and lots of decent young talent to make this move.

You watch the Detroit and Tampa game lastnight?

Leafs need more toughness for sure.. especially since they'll have even more youth next season. JVR will be back but hes too soft.

"try to acquire young forwards with size like Dmitrij Jaskin, Tom Wilson, Adam Lowry or Marcus Foligno, who are restricted free agents"

trade only?

we don't have our 3rd next year, so we'd have to pay these guys +$1.8M to offer sheet them for a 2nd.

Can't junk like this be found on the ufa market?

Wilson is a scary man

So Fedorov said he was aware at the start of the season that Zaitsev was 100% coming to Tdot. What his game like? he got any "sandpaper" to it ?

They need some physicality to go along with the skill players you already have and the multitude of ones that will be coming up

I moved to near(ish) to Leicester when I was 7... many of my friends from there are either Leicester or Derby fans... I was the Manchester lad who had some very good years at their expense... now it's coming back on me

Scour the AHL and do a prospect swap based on needs

Team HAS sandpaper in the system, which is why I said what I did. Leipsic, Komarov, as "agitators". A lot of the other guys might not be agitators but they are TOUGH. Mike Babcock's system demands it. The guys play physical, they drive the net, play the boards, etc.

that makes sense.

Wilson would be a nice add, but i don't see the caps letting him go.

They'll be a bag of broken bones if they ever make the playoffs just with soft skilled players.

A team of Phill Kessels. Checking lines, d-men, all. That just doesnt work no matter how "skilled" your players might be. Look out west to see the teams who won cups. Hacking/grit is a 40-60 balance with skill.

I wouldn't if I were the Caps either. I guess you could overpay and make an offer that cant be refused, but whats the point

Someone on D who hits would be nice. Babs had Kronwall.

there's a time to overpay in my mind - when you have a SC contending team and your looking for the piece to put you over the top.

now's not the time to overpay. they can find a cheaper option.

When it comes to throwing their weight around like they'll need to do in the playoffs they have Kadri and Komarov.. Leipsic and Sosh play physical too.. but they are still a very soft team. I could see them targeting Lucic..

If the Leafs don't get first pick, I can see them getting 2nd or 3rd pick; and would love to see them pick LW Laine [6'4"].
Then package the PIT 1st round pick & couple players to trade up to the top 10, to get a D man.

Or PLD... try to get ahead of MTL..

Id be okay with either Joulevi or Chych.. but one will be gone by the 7-10th pick..
