You lost me at Brendan Gallagher as C, great kid, all heart but he hasn't shown anything but psychopath in his play and thats why I love him. Let him play his game without the C baggage.

- Habs Talk

Hey Andy some things I must point out.

In October/November Habs scored 100 goals in 25 games, in Dec/Jan they scored 46 in 25. numbers could be off a little.

When Price went day to day, Condon was 8-2-3 those same numbers could be off a little.

How in the h, e, double l, do you think that collapse is because Price went down.

They stopped scoring my friend, and don't give me that 'Price handles the puck on the dump in' crap.

The scoring dried up, plain and simple, because Thing 1 didn't address that in the off season, and Thing 2, he was too busy thinking he orchestrated a 9-0 start..

Petey, there is a part 3 you know

I will give you that "crap"; forget that he's your best player and that he intimidates opponents without doing a single thing. Forget that he's arguably the best puck handling goalie in the league and that yes, he not only ensures a smooth transition out of the defensive zone on a team that adopts that specific system due to their speed. Forget that he practically singlehandedly destroys penalties, he gives everyone around him the confidence to go out there and take chances. You couldn't possibly undermine the effect of his loss on the offense because it certainly has played into the psyche of the entire team.

His injuries are what started it, coupled with the spark plug´s (Gallagher) in what should've been a career season for him in terms of goals. From a psychological standpoint, and after Condon played well enough through 13 games, this was a fragile team that was, in a lot of ways, mismanaged after a few losses started piling on. I agree with you with regards to that.

Now, am I saying the Habs are THAT much better with Price around? Yes. Are they elite? Perhaps. Can they compete for a Stanley Cup? No- they absolutely need added firepower, and that doesn't seem to be a likely scenario as they scored the same amount of goals as they did last year...

How do you justify that?

everything you say about Price, it might be balls on accurate. and Marc Bergevin isn't wrong when he says that if Price is healthy, the team probably makes the playoffs. but while it's true, what does it say for a team when as soon as it stops getting all-world goaltending, they go into complete hysterics in all phases of the game? it exposes them as a poorly managed, poorly constructed and poorly coached hockey team.

I think if they lose they goalie and freak out and can't compete anymore it shows that there is no leadership in the players or that Price is the only real leader and that the coach was powerless to change that Adam

I don't think Gallagher, Galchenyuk, Plekanec, Subban, Markov, Pacioretty individualy suck at hockey. They just fell apart as a team.

so Habs will draft between 9-11 (I know, the lottery...but I don't believe in fairies)

they have 3 picks in the first 50 (one 1st round, two 2nd)

I think they will go for a defenseman again, Sergachev or Juolevi

This season was a lot of negatives that just snowballed beyond the capabilities of a young...ish team and a new captain. Its clear they need another person that can fill the 30+ goals in the top 6. I guess BG was on pace for it, but I wouldn't rely on him due to his play style and propensity for him to be injured given said style and his size. Clearly the bottom 6 has been well fleshed out this season, so lets hope the team finds another player to fill a bigger role this off season.

Gallagher doesn't have a huge history of injuries, his biggest was broken fingers from blocking shots, could have happened to anymore ( who is brave enough to block shots so not our captain). But regardless they need another top 6 minimum.

i remember that... it was such a harmless shot he got in front of. kind of a pointless injury. personally i don't really want to see guys like him, Pacioretty, Galchenyuk stepping in front of shots. the rest i don't care because they all (frank)ing suck.

Bergevin will pat himself on the back for bringing in a 35-goal scorer without giving up any of his sweet prospects or precious 4th liners

Can't control the intensity of a guy like Gallagher, if you do next thing you know he's not going in front of the net to take those crosschecks anymore. You have to accept the random freak injury with him.

i think as a player matures and goes through season after season of pounding, they learn to pick their spots. i don't think Gallagher will be such a maniac when he's 27-28.
