Scoop Cooper: My thoughts on the passing of my friend, Ed Snider Edward M. Snider was at the helm of the Philadelphia Flyers from its first game until his passing this morning almost half a century late. Here are my thoughts on this man I knew for 46 years.

Stupid question. Who was the owner of the Flyers now? I know snider is the "owner" but didn't he give up his ownership in full to a group? His title as chairman is confusing me. I'm worried we won't have a good "owner" now spending to win. Does this make sense what I'm asking ?

Scoop thanks for the touching memorial to the man who built a great franchise with the passion of a fan and whose drive and vision impacted so many in our region in a positive way.

I'm not the only one, I'm sure, that feels like they lost a relative today. It feels like we lost a grandfather. Sure we may have argued over politics or other things, but he was always there for us. Thank you, Mr Snider for all you gave to us for so many years.

Comcast & the Roberts family retain 74% ownership and they say they are not interested in selling or changing that arrangement. As for the 24% owned by Snider, we shall find out. Shawn Tilger has been acting as the team governor.

Thank you, Scoop. I agree with Jsaq, it's like losing a member of the family; maybe more like a distant uncle than a grandfather, but that may just be me. I'm just sad.

Great read....thanks for sharing. Mr. Snider obviously touched a lot of lives and really was a pioneer for the NHL. What a great life and a wonderful legacy to leave behind.
