As for Wood, it's a little weird. McKenzie wrote about it a couple weeks ago. He said that the Devils could look to get Wood to sign with them this year because after his sophomore year he could leave school and he could become a UFA at some point, probably in July maybe August. But if he stays until he graduates the Devils keep his rights.

With Merill stumbling and Gelinas gone, Santinis path to the NHL is easier, maybe he will take that into consideration.

Look at my other comment, Santini talks about that also. And last year we hoped Merrill and Gelinas would make some leeway and become something good, but Gelly is gone and Merrill is a 6/7th defenseman, so Santini may not have that much competition if he's really good.
