Don't draft picks come back from whatever team signs the ncaa player?? Maybe that's just for RFAs.. or maybe I'm totally confused. I do hate that rule with the college players though. They really need to do something to correct that. Total b.s.

Vesey was a 3rd rounder. If he goes FA the Preds receive no draft pick compensation. Comp only due for 1st rounders who become FAs.

Very easy to look up too.

Harvard men are known for keeping their word?

That one is easy to research as well. Google "Obama lies".

Preds have bent over backwards for Vesey. Hard to fault Poile in this scenario, but that would be a real kick in the snarglies if he goes FA.

Posted on JJs thread. Believe it when I see it. Vesey is more likely looking to drive up his bonus package with the preds or leafs.

Vingan was on Hockey Unfiltered today and said that he thinks, based on the statement the team made yesterday, that they are getting a little desperate. He believes this "meeting" this week is one more last ditch to appeal to him, but he thinks if Vesey were going to sign it would have been this weekend.

The thing to consider...there's no new information for him. He knows what we offer. Knows the ELC situation...if he's made his mind up, and I believe he did long ago, there's likely very little that can be said to change it.

Sucks, but it is what it is...the thing that's REALLY scary is that Dave Starman was on NHL Network and said that in hockey circles in the NCAA, it's been common knowledge that he was going UFA for a while, and that he's heard Chicago named as Vesey's first choice.

Aren't entry level contracts all covered by the same limits? Not sure what the taxes would be in Toronto, but I can't imagine they'd be easier on him here.

And I think skipping us and signing with Chicago would throw him right into the same perpetual "boo-fest" that he who shall not be named experiences every time he touches a puck here.

I think he's making a huge mistake, but the fact that he didn't sign the day Harvard got eliminated or have a contract in place for when they did, tells you he isn't coming here. I would bet the farm on it. All signs point to UFA

The base EKC is capped. Other bonuses can be negotiated within limits. One would think Poile has already offered Vesey max bonuses but something is going on. It could simply be Vesey seeing a better opportunity to play elsewhere. The preds have Neal, Wilson, Fiala et al at LW.

Very hard to call it a mistake if it is based on Vesey making a decision based on position strength, potential linemates etc.... Is he displacing Neal or a healthy Colin Wilson? Better ops to play a lot in Toronto or even Chicago.

Yeah, I could see how playing in Toronto would be a wiser decision than instantly being a top 6 forward (which he was told her would have immediately) in the Playoffs on a good team and burning the first year of his ELC in Nashville

Sad when these kids do this crap. Drive up they're value. And end up going where they're best interest isn't, all to make more money. Should focus on they're abilities and where they're best suited. Not the extra buck. I do however love seeing them fall just like Shultz in EDM.

He pretty much said he doesn't want to go to the Leafs so i wouldn't worry about that. What surprises me is that your GM goes to his game at Harvard and wants to speak with him and gets turned away. Sounds like something that would happen in Tampa with Yzerman, not Nashville. Hopefully for you guys he gets his head straight and signs. Nashville is his best option.

Though, I wouldn't mind seeing him play with his buddy Jack.

He isn't going to Toronto. When asked about his Dad and Brother being there he said, don't read to much into that.
