How is Liles worth 2 pick and a prospect anyway? WTF... he's old as dirt, is a career minus, this is like putting a bandaid on the titanic. And what do you know, we're getting nothing from Seguin deal when Erickson walks at end of year. |

How scary would your team be if you still had Seguin?
Stempniak and Liles for picks 2,3,4 &5 ..... As a leafs fan, I feel bad for your team. GM is really dropping the ball by mortgaging the future for second hand magic beans |

Who's ready to see the Chara-JML top D pairing? Or Seidenberg-JML second pairing? Going to be exciting to watch the goals against get even worse. |

Maybe Stempniak produces more than Connolly/Hayes? About all I can think of. The D core is pretty much the same, maybe a little worse if CLOAD decides JML is a top 4 D man. |

Do these trades change the destiny of this team at all?
They are a WC team at worst and 3rd in the Atlantic best, these trades just ensure that they make the playoffs and get the Jacobs' family that playoff $$$$$$.

J. Hayes was returned in the R. Smith trade with Florida & Boston dumped Savard's contract on Florida which solved a waver/23 man protected roster issue when Boston had to submit their roster to the NHL the night prior to the start of the season.
Morrow is still here as well & both are just kids. Eriksson isn't gone yet & based on the return Boedker got for Arizona which is virtually nothing, obviously the return for Eriksson didn't justify moving him & he still may be resigned. They have till July 1st & he can always be moved prior to a team for something. He's here now to help our playoff run. He's our trade deadline/rental acquisition if you like.
As for the draft picks. The chances of a player selected outside of the top 45, mid 2nd round making it to the NHL are under 20%. As for the 3, 4 & 5 the chances although not impossible are slim to non existent. These picks have little to no value & are meaningless really as the odds are less than 10% any player selected this late will even get a cup of coffee in the NHL.
Lets not forget we dumped Rich Peverly's 2 years at 3.5 million on Dallas with Seguin & Boston had cap issues that needed to be resolved. Someone had to go & Neely choose Seguin & that allowed Boston to dump Peverly as he didn't like him.
I'm not happy with what Boston did either but at least they did something. Liles & Stempniak will help. Boston is in a full scale rebuild & Sweeney did say they weren't deviating from the plan. 9 regulars on the current roster are rookies, 2nd or 3rd year players.
How many of you even had Boston making the playoffs? Be happy, let it go.

It's inexcusable. To not get ANYTHING for Loui in a trade market that was grossly over paying for players is just ridiculous. The concept of "our own rental" is the dumbest thing I've ever heard, and just a statement to cover up the fact that management has no idea what the (frank) they're doing. Now Loui will walk for nothing, I'd be shocked if his agent even talked with the Bruins again. What an absolute waste. I cant believe I thought they'd actually make a smart move to acquire something that would help the future.
Stempniak deal I'm okay with, 40 points this year, not a horrible price to pay, especially cause we still have a 2nd, and Connolly wasnt cutting it on the Bergy line.
The Liles deal, however pisses me off. What does Liles bring to the table that JoMo cant? And the price was so steep, I just don't get it. He's not a terrible defenceman, but he's not making a difference back there.
This deadline, like last years draft (to a certain extent), was a complete faliure for the Bruins, and it's really tough to watch these idiots in the front office burn this team into the ground |

Ty Anderson: Bruins keep Eriksson, add veteran help on deadline day - tyanderson
Look at ahead the schedule. There is a very real possibility the Bruins could still slide right out of the playoffs. So let's cut the bullpoop happy thoughts. This POS team still has (frank)ing games to win.
Those being sunny about Stempniak? Yes he is a decent add. One you overpaid for and you could have had on a PTO. This management is a joke. Look at what they've done in the last 3 seasons. Time to clean house now before we become Edmonton east.
That's a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and Camara for Rinaldo, Stempniak and John-Michael Kaberle in the same year. You also gave up 2 seconds for Connolly. THAT'S PISS POOR ASSET MANAGEMENT!!! |

To add to this thought. Just because 3rd round picks and beyond have a low chance of yielding and NHL player, doesnt mean they are meaningless. Especially if you trade them for a player that has less value than the pick. I would have taken a 5% chance at an NHL player than give that poop up for JML who quite frankly I think makes this D core worse.
PISS POOR ASSET MANAGEMENT!!! |

This june at the draft, when it would have been the Bruins turn to draft in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th round it will stink.
Thinking that Liles and Stempniak will put us through to the Stanley Cup final is plain stupid.
That is why for me that we should have been seller with Eriksson.
The playoffs this year is just a bonus since a few eastern teams went flat. Doesn't make us a contender.
Washington, NYR, LA, Chicago are way ahead. |

Hold on a minute. There are some conflicting views, and reason behind both sides.
I have to agree with the salary dumps of Peverley and Savard. I agree that Stempniak is a worthy rental IF we were in a position to make a run. Had we acquired Hamhuis and Stempniak, it would make more sense. I also agree that a 4th and a 5th are essentially nothing. You can sign free agents, or undrafted players to make up for the mediocre guys you would draft in those rounds. Camara wasn't going to make the team so no loss there.
I also agree with Sweeney that we did not trade our 1sts or any prospects of worth. This is something to sing our praises on.
So until Eriksson leaves for nothing, I will not be completely outraged. That is my biggest concern at this time. Had Eriksson signed, and we acquired these players, I'd feel neutral (Joy for Eriksson, Anger for Liles, and somewhere in the middle for Stemp). Because there was no solving Eriksson, I'm left with anger.
Sweeney, sign Eriksson to 5.5 for 4 years, and restore my faith that we can compete again soon. |

These message boards/Bruins fans in general have been unbearable this year. I didnt realize how many NHL GMS were located in Massachusetts. Its a wonder this team can't win at home. Literally zero support at all times. The Garden has been silent except for the experts yelling shoot because that isnt annoying.
There wasn't a move to be made for Loui. End of story. I'd rather see him finish the year in the hopes that he will take a discount then trade him for a pick and a 2nd tier prospect that will probably never have any real value.
That young defensemen we are looking for obviously was not as available as we thought. |

Careful "the real fans" aren't going to to like you talking about them that way.
I was about to post that its time like this I hate being a Bruins fan, cause no matter what Sweeney did yesterday, all the arm-chair GM's on here would've pissed and moaned about it. Camara was never going to make the big squad, the 3rd, 4th, and 5th were simply warm bodies for Providence. Dealing the second is the only mistake Don made yesterday in my opinion.
I said this on twitter yesterday to some complainers and i'll say it again, look on the brightside - If PC was still with Boston Eriksson, Liles and Stempniak would all have shiny new multi-year contracts at high cap hits and full NMC's. |
|
|
|
A lot of the "real fans" on here remind me a lot of Randy Quaid's character in Major League 2, bash bash bash - but if they go on a run they will be front an center cheering them on. |
